Amazing Sound in a Small Size
It absolutely exceeded my expectations. The sound is loud, clear, and surprisingly deep for such a compact speaker. Super easy to pair, very durable, and perfect for taking anywhere. The battery life is great and the 360° sound fills the room effortlessly. Definitely one of the best portable speakers I’ve used — worth every dollar!

Will not be compatible with other wonderboom products
I purchased this ultimate wonderboom play as thinking it was a newer model it would pair to my wonderboom 2 but they just cancel each other out. I followed the manufacturer instructions to pair 2 devises which didnt help and I downloaded the wonderboom app but there were no updates for either old or new device. It appears as though unless both devises are exactly the same its not going to work. It works perfectly fine on its own though.

Things to consider
It is great for portability and casual use, but larger or more premium speakers will usually deliver stronger bass, higher volume, and a bigger overall sound.
Portability rating
9/10 - Very easy to carry thanks to its compact size, 0.318 kg weight, and built-in hanging loop.
Outdoor suitability
Excellent for beach, poolside, park, and backyard use thanks to its IP67 dustproof and waterproof design.
Battery endurance rating
7/10 - Up to 10 hours is solid for day use, though longer-lasting speakers are available.
Audio quality score
7/10 - Impressively big 360-degree sound for its size, but not as rich or powerful as larger premium speakers.
Multi-device compatibility
8/10 - Bluetooth 4.2 with support for up to two source devices makes switching between users simple.
Key benefits
- 360-degree sound: Spreads audio evenly around the speaker, making it easier for a group to hear music from different positions.
- Lightweight 0.318 kg design: Easy to carry in a backpack or by hand for day trips and outdoor use.
- IP67 durability: Handles dust, splashes, and water exposure for more confident use at the beach, pool, or park.
- Up to 10 hours battery life: Supports long listening sessions without needing frequent recharging.
- Up to 40 m Bluetooth range in open spaces: Gives you more freedom to move around without keeping your phone right beside the speaker.
- Two-source device support: Lets two users stay connected and swap playlists without repeated re-pairing.
- Included bungee loop: Makes it easier to hang or carry the speaker when moving between locations.
- 68% post-consumer recycled plastic: Offers a more sustainability-minded build compared with speakers using only virgin plastic.
Q: Can the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom Play pair with older Wonderboom speakers?
A: No. The listed stereo pairing feature is for two Wonderboom Play speakers, and cross-generation pairing with Wonderboom, Wonderboom 2 or Wonderboom 3 is not stated here. If you want a matched stereo pair, choose two Wonderboom Play units.
Q: Can the Wonderboom Play stay connected to two phones or tablets at the same time?
A: Yes. It can connect to two source devices at once, so two people can keep a phone or tablet paired and take turns playing audio. This is useful for switching playlists without re-pairing each time, but only one device plays sound at a time.
Q: Is the 40 metre Bluetooth range realistic in normal use?
A: Yes, but the 40 metre range is best measured in open conditions with a clear line of sight. Indoors, walls, furniture and interference usually shorten the distance, so expect less reach around the house than you would get outside.
Q: Is the Wonderboom Play suitable for the pool, beach or shower?
A: Yes. Its IP67 rating means it is dustproof and waterproof, and this model is also stated to float in water, which suits poolside or beach use. IP67 protects the speaker itself, but it does not make a connected phone or tablet waterproof.
Q: Can two Wonderboom Play speakers be used for stereo sound?
A: Yes. Two matching Wonderboom Play speakers can be paired for true wireless stereo, with separate left and right channels. Pairing is done by long-pressing the Play/Pause button on both speakers, and the second speaker is sold separately.
Q: Does the Wonderboom Play support wired audio, Wi-Fi or NFC?
A: No. This model is designed as a Bluetooth speaker and the listed specs do not include an aux input, Wi-Fi or NFC. If you want one-tap NFC pairing or a wired 3.5 mm connection for older devices, this is not the right fit.
