Pros

Low cost decent performance
Proving to be a decent phone. Occasionally needing to restart apps for the GPs and for some reason doesn't correctly recognise phone is upside down. Decent audio, decent resolution, so far exceptional battery life, and a solid camera.

Decent phone for its price
Purchased for a game as a backup. Decent performance, smooth gameplay, quick to load, little to no lag in response, came with its own case in the box, seems to have a great battery life. Can occasionally struggle to find gps and requires a quick game restart. One feature of the game, battery saver, allowing the screen to go dark when the phone is tilted, doesn't seem to work. But apart from that, it has been a handy purchase.

Oldies phone
Simple to Operate we brought the phone for my computer illiterate mother in law. We wanted something easy to Operate. The T CL fit the bill and the main phone numbers are on the main screen so she can ring them. Works well.

Awesome TCL 605
I have been an Apple user since 2009, this device is slowly changing my mind, I purchased it as it had a headphone socket/jack, as I require cabled headphones for Podcasts listening, as Wireless go flat drop out get lost. It took a bit to get use too Android, learning has been simple and user friendly, pretty pleased with the battery life a couple of days with only overnight podcasting. Pretty Impressed, Look out Apple, not headphone Jacks is loosing your faithful user, TCL Thank you, and The Good Guys, what can I say! Top service as always

At a glance
The TCL 605 128GB is a value-focused unlocked Android phone for everyday users, students and travellers who want a large screen, dual SIM flexibility and long battery life without spending too much. Its expandable storage, NFC and included case add practicality. The main trade-off is that its HD display and 4G-only connectivity are more basic than mid-range and premium phones.

Things to consider
This phone is best for everyday use rather than high-end gaming or advanced photography, as it uses a basic HD display and 4G connectivity instead of higher-resolution screens and 5G found on pricier models.
Global travel suitability
Good for budget travel thanks to dual SIM support, 4G connectivity, GPS support and expandable storage, but it lacks 5G for faster mobile data in supported regions.
Student vs business fit
Better suited to students and everyday users than demanding business users, with practical battery life, dual SIM and NFC but more basic display and network performance.
Camera performance score
6.5/10 - capable main camera for everyday photos and video calls, but limited compared with phones that offer ultra-wide, zoom or stronger low-light performance.
Battery endurance rating
8.5/10 - the 5200mAh battery should comfortably support full-day everyday use, with 18W charging for practical top-ups.
Key benefits
- 128GB Storage: Gives you generous space for everyday apps, photos and videos before needing extra storage.
- MicroSD Support up to 2TB: Lets you expand storage significantly for large photo libraries, downloads or offline media.
- 6.7 inch Display: Provides a larger viewing area that suits streaming, browsing and reading on the go.
- 50MP Main Camera: Helps capture detailed everyday shots in good lighting for social sharing and casual photography.
- 5200mAh Battery: Delivers strong all-day battery capacity for calls, messaging and media use between charges.
- 18W Fast Charging: Recharges faster than basic charging, making it more convenient to top up during busy days.
- Dual SIM Support: Makes it easier to manage separate work and personal numbers or use travel SIMs.
- IP54 Splash Resistance: Adds extra peace of mind for everyday use around light splashes and dust exposure.
Q: Can you use two SIM cards and a microSD card together
A: Yes. TCL 605 has a SIM1 plus SIM2 plus TF card tray, so dual SIM use does not take the microSD slot. That suits travel or work if you want separate numbers and extra storage at the same time.
Q: Does this TCL phone support 5G networks in Australia
A: No. TCL 605 is a 4G phone, so it connects to 4G mobile networks rather than 5G. That is fine for calls, messaging and everyday browsing, but buyers wanting faster 5G data should choose a different model.
Q: Is the screen sharp enough for streaming and everyday apps
A: TCL 605 has a 6.7 inch HD screen with 720 x 1600 resolution and 480 nits peak brightness. It is suitable for browsing, video and general apps, but text and fine detail will not look as crisp as on higher-resolution displays.
Q: Will wired headphones work without needing a USB-C adaptor
A: Yes. TCL 605 includes a 3.5mm audio jack, so standard wired headphones plug in directly without a USB-C adaptor. The box includes the handset, cable and case, so a wall charger is not included.
Q: How water resistant is the TCL 605 for daily use
A: TCL 605 is rated IP54, which means it has basic protection against dust and splashes. It is suited to light rain or accidental splashes, but it is not designed for submersion or use in the pool or shower.
Q: Is the TCL 605 good for gaming or heavier multitasking
A: TCL 605 is better suited to everyday apps than demanding games or heavy multitasking. It uses a MediaTek G81 processor with 4GB memory plus 8GB RAM expansion, so intensive titles may load slower or drop smoothness.
Q: Can you pay with your phone using NFC on this model
A: Yes. TCL 605 includes NFC, which supports tap-based features that rely on near field communication. Whether a payment app works depends on the bank, wallet app and network setup, so confirm app compatibility before relying on it.
