Makes Attractive-look Toasted Sandwiches
Over the years I've tried a variety of sandwich presses. This design with the ripple top plate is good for the pattern on the bread it produces but is tiresome to clean. Because I use it almost everyday I'm hanging back on giving the ribs a thorough clean. I prefer both plates to be flat but one wasn't available this time when the previous sandwich maker broke six month beyond the one-year warranty period. At least this one has a two-year warranty period. The reason for the four stars is the short power cord. All of the previous sandwich presses had power cords that were one-and-a-half times longer. This power cord exits on the opposite side from the power point nearly behind the microwave oven in my kitchen bench corner. I have to position this sandwich press in front of the microwave oven door. I used to be able to have the sandwich press on the stainless steel bench part of the sink. I prepare food on the expansive island bench which doesn't have a power point. I don't have to take more than a step to access the fridge, the pantry, the oven, the stove top, the microwave oven, the cutlery drawer, the stack of plates, the compost bin, and the rubbish bin in a cupboard. I just spin around. I suppose other people have long kitchen benches they run up and down with lots of power points for all their electrical appliances where a short cord doesn't get in the way. Still it does the job well and the lever to open or close and lock in place is excellent compared with the previous versions which used screws that always needed tightening but not too much and had dodgy locking mechanisms. In the right kitchen it will serve you well.
