Improved design is great
At first I didn't see the point of the upper section being ribbed. But after the first use it became obvious: there is less drip on the countertop when you open the press than the flat panel version, plus it makes the sandwich crispier. And I also discovered that if you put the sandwich ribbed side down on a plate there is less condensation to ruin the crispness.
