At a glance
This 120cm silent undermount rangehood is built for larger cooktops and kitchens wanting strong extraction without a bulky canopy look. It suits frequent home cooks, especially in open-plan spaces, thanks to its inline motor, high 1600 m3/h airflow and slim cabinet fit. Touch controls and delay shut-off make it easy to use. One limitation is that its 120cm size and 2-box setup can make installation more involved than smaller standard models.

Things to consider
Its 120cm format and inline motor setup may require more planning and installation effort than smaller, simpler undermount rangehoods.
Open plan kitchen suitability
9/10 - strong 1600 m3/h airflow and inline motor design make it well suited to open-plan homes where smoke and odours spread easily.
Noise level vs category
8/10 - quieter than many standard undermount rangehoods because the inline motor helps reduce noise at the cooktop.
Renovation compatibility
9/10 - concealed undermount format and compatibility with cabinetry as shallow as 300mm make it a strong fit for modern renovations.
Cooking frequency fit
Frequent to heavy cooking
Key benefits
- 1600 m3/h Air Extraction: High airflow helps clear smoke, steam and cooking odours quickly during heavy cooking sessions.
- Inline Motor Design: Moves motor noise away from the cooking area for a quieter kitchen experience.
- 120cm Width: Broad coverage suits wide cooktops, including 90cm and some 120cm models.
- Fits 300mm Deep Cabinetry: Works well in kitchens with shallower overhead cupboards where bulkier units may not fit.
- Five Fan Speeds: Lets you match extraction power to light simmering through to high-heat frying.
- Touch Controls: Simple surface controls make speed selection and operation straightforward.
- Dual 3W LED Lights: Adds clear task lighting over the cooktop to improve visibility while cooking.
- 15-Minute Delay Timer with Auto Shut-Off: Continues clearing lingering odours after cooking without needing manual switch-off.
Q: Why does this Schweigen rangehood come in 2 boxes?
A: This model is supplied in 2 boxes because the hood body and the inline motor are separate components. That design moves the motor away from the cooktop, but it also means the ducting path and motor position need to be planned before install.
Q: Will a 120cm rangehood suit a 90cm cooktop properly?
A: Yes. A 120cm width can suit a 90cm cooktop because the canopy extends beyond the cooking zone to help catch smoke and steam from the outer burners. It is also intended for wide cooking areas, including some larger cooktops where cabinet space allows.
Q: How quiet is the inline motor in everyday cooking?
A: The inline motor is designed to keep more motor noise away from the cooktop because it is installed separately from the hood body. It can sound quieter in the kitchen than a fixed-motor setup, but the result still depends on the ducting layout and motor placement.
Q: Can it fit into shallow overhead kitchen cabinets?
A: Yes. This undermount rangehood fits cabinetry as shallow as 300mm deep, which helps in kitchens with slimmer overhead cupboards. The hood can sit in a compact cabinet, but the separate inline motor still needs a planned ducting route outside the hood cavity.
Q: Do the stainless steel mesh filters handle heavy cooking well?
A: Yes. Stainless steel mesh filters are suited to regular capture of grease during everyday cooking and are easy to remove for cleaning. If frying and searing are common, they will need more frequent cleaning to keep airflow performing as intended.
Q: What does the delay timer help with after cooking?
A: The 15-minute delay timer keeps the rangehood running after cooking, then shuts it off automatically. That is useful when steam or lingering odours remain after the cooktop is off, so the kitchen can keep clearing without leaving the hood on manually.
