beware compatibility issues
The GG webpage for this product does not indicate that it is incompatible with some models of Surface Pro 13 inch laptops. Although it is clear on the packaging once it arrives! So bring your laptop into a store and get some advice, don't try to do this online. Through the pedantic application of a technicality - the problem is with the webpage not the product - they are unable to provide a 'return label'. So you will need to go into a store anyway to get a refund.

Things to consider
This keyboard is best suited to Surface Pro 13 inch models, so it offers less universal compatibility than standalone Bluetooth keyboards designed for multiple devices and platforms.
Work vs gaming suitability
Strong for work and productivity; not purpose-built for gaming features.
Ergonomics score
7/10 - flexible for laptop and tablet use, but the compact detachable format is less ergonomic than a full-size desktop keyboard.
Multi-device compatibility
Limited - designed for Surface Pro 13 inch models, with Bluetooth available for pairing.
Portability rating
9/10 - slim, travel-friendly and doubles as a screen cover for easier carrying.
Noise level vs category
Moderate - mechanical switches are typically more noticeable than many slim membrane keyboards.
Key benefits
- Mechanical key switches: Provides a more tactile typing feel for users who prefer clearer key feedback.
- Detachable Surface Pro fit: Attaches securely to Surface Pro 13 inch models for a more laptop-like typing setup.
- Fold-back design: Lets you switch back to touch input without fully removing the keyboard.
- Screen-covering closure: Helps protect the display when the device is packed away for travel.
- Integrated pen storage: Keeps your pen with the keyboard for easier transport and fewer loose accessories.
- Integrated pen charging: Charges a compatible pen while stored, helping it stay ready to use.
- Bluetooth connectivity: Supports wireless pairing for more flexible use.
- Up to 60 hours battery life: Delivers extended cordless use with backlight off before needing a recharge.
Q: Which Surface models is the Microsoft Surface Pro 13 inch Keyboard compatible with?
A: It is designed for Surface Pro 13 inch models, including Surface Pro 11th Edition. It is not listed as a universal Surface keyboard, so buyers with older Surface Pro, Surface Go or 12-inch models should choose the keyboard made for that exact device size.
Q: Can this keyboard stay attached when switching between laptop and tablet use?
A: Yes. It clicks into place on the Surface Pro 13 inch and can be closed over the screen to help protect it, or folded back for tablet use. That makes it suitable if you regularly swap between typing, touch input and on-screen writing during the day.
Q: Does the Surface Pro 13 inch Keyboard include pen storage or charging?
A: Yes. The product information says it is built to store, charge, type and write, so it supports keeping a compatible pen with the keyboard rather than carrying it separately. That is useful for buyers who want the pen and keyboard kept together when travelling.
Q: What makes this keyboard different from a basic keyboard cover for Surface?
A: This model is closer to a laptop-style keyboard than a simple cover. It includes a full mechanical keyset, backlit keys, a large trackpad, a Copilot key, a microphone mute key and a snipping key, so it adds more shortcut and navigation control than a plain cover.
Q: Can this keyboard be used wirelessly when it is not attached to the Surface Pro?
A: No. This is a dedicated attachable keyboard for Surface Pro 13 inch, not the separate Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard range. It is intended to connect by attaching to the device, so buyers wanting desk use away from the screen should consider a wireless keyboard instead.
