Very efficient dryer
Really happy with the dryer. Efficient. Low energy use. Solid build quality. I like that I could direct the captured water into the laundry tub like you do with a washing machine. The kit for this was supplied.

Good dryer
We brought this LG dryer together with a LG washer at a very good price. Staff were helpful. However, the dryer was not installed properly and we had water leakage just after 2 weeks. It was a bit disappointing though the issue is now fixed.

At a glance
This 8kg LG heat pump dryer is a practical choice for households wanting lower running costs, reliable fabric care and easy day-to-day use. It suits families, couples and anyone drying mixed loads regularly, with sensor dry, allergy care and app control adding convenience. Its main limitation is that it sits more in the value-to-mid range, so it lacks the larger capacity and more premium finish of higher-end models.

Things to consider
With an 8kg capacity and straightforward feature set, it may feel limited for very large households or buyers wanting more premium cycle customisation and a stack kit included in the box.
Energy efficiency score
9/10 - Excellent efficiency for the category with an 8 star energy rating and 135 kWh/year consumption.
Family laundry suitability
8/10 - Well suited to small to medium families thanks to its 8kg capacity and versatile fabric programs.
Allergy suitability
8/10 - Includes a dedicated Allergy Care cycle, making it a strong fit for allergy-aware households.
Noise level vs category
7/10 - Likely comparable to many heat pump dryers, but no specific noise figure is provided.
Ease of use rating
8/10 - Simple dial and touch controls, LED display, sensor dry, delay start and app access make day-to-day operation straightforward.
Key benefits
- 8kg Capacity: Handles everyday family-sized loads in one cycle, helping reduce the number of drying batches.
- Heat Pump Drying: Dries clothes more gently than conventional high-heat systems, making it better for regular garment care.
- 8 Star Energy Rating: Delivers strong efficiency for lower running costs, with rated energy use of 135 kWh per year.
- Sensor Dry: Monitors moisture levels to help prevent over-drying and reduce guesswork at the end of a cycle.
- Allergy Care Program: Offers a dedicated cycle option for households wanting more intensive care for sensitive clothing and linen items.
- Auto Cleaning Condenser: Helps maintain drying performance with less manual upkeep over time.
- Dual Lint Filter: Makes lint collection more effective to support smoother operation and simpler routine maintenance.
- ThinQ App Control: Lets you monitor and control cycles remotely for more flexibility around busy schedules.
Q: Does this LG heat pump dryer need to be vented outside?
A: No. LG DVH1-08WP is a heat pump dryer, so it condenses moisture instead of needing an external vent. That makes it easier to place in an internal laundry or apartment, though the room still needs basic airflow around the unit.
Q: Can I stack this dryer on top of my washer?
A: Yes, LG DVH1-08WP is stackable, but the stacking kit is not included. Check the washer top size and the matching kit before buying, because same-width appliances do not always stack securely if the depth or shape differs.
Q: Can this dryer drain automatically without emptying the water tank?
A: Yes. LG DVH1-08WP includes a drain hose kit, so it can be set up for continuous drainage instead of relying only on the internal water container. If not connected to a drain, the tank will still need regular emptying.
Q: What can I do with the ThinQ app on this dryer?
A: LG DVH1-08WP supports remote control through the LG ThinQ app over Wi-Fi. The app can start or manage drying remotely and adds downloadable cycles, but it does not turn this Series 1 model into a premium custom-program dryer.
Q: Is this a good dryer for wool and delicate clothes?
A: Yes. LG DVH1-08WP has dedicated Wool and Easy Care programs, and heat pump drying uses gentler temperatures than conventional vented drying. It is still important to follow garment care labels, because some items remain unsuitable for tumble drying.
Q: Will towels and thicker clothes always dry in one cycle?
A: Usually, but not always. LG DVH1-08WP uses Sensor Dry and load sensing to stop when moisture levels drop, yet thick seams or densely packed towels can hold extra moisture and may need a second run or a lighter load size.
Q: Does this dryer come with a rack for shoes or delicates?
A: Yes. LG DVH1-08WP includes a rack assembly in the box for items that are better dried without tumbling freely. It is useful for shoes or delicate pieces, but the rack reduces usable drum space for a normal mixed clothing load.
