Great refrigerator
We've been using the LG 637L French Door Refrigerator for a while now and overall we're very happy with our purchase. The fridge offers plenty of storage space, keeping everything well-organized and easily accessible. The cooling performance has been excellent, and the layout of the shelves and compartments is practical for a busy family. The only minor drawback is the slightly cheeky door design. While it looks modern and stylish, it can take a little getting used to when opening and closing the doors, and occasionally it feels a bit less intuitive than a traditional design. That said, this is a small issue compared to the overall quality, capacity, and performance of the refrigerator. It runs quietly, looks great in the kitchen, and does exactly what we need it to do. Pros: Huge 637L capacity Excellent cooling performance Stylish French door design Quiet operation Well-designed storage layout Cons: Door design takes some getting used to Overall: A fantastic refrigerator with great features and plenty of space. Despite the slightly quirky door design, we're very satisfied with our purchase and would happily recommend it.

At a glance
The LG 637L French Door Refrigerator is a large-capacity fridge for families and busy households that need flexible storage for fresh food, platters and bulk groceries. Its key strengths are the roomy layout, plumbed ice and water dispenser, and smart remote controls via Wi-Fi. A main limitation is that it needs a nearby water connection and enough kitchen space for its wider doors.
What it’s great for
- Family grocery storage
- Entertaining at home
- Bulk fresh food storage
- Everyday ice and chilled water access
- Smart appliance monitoring
Where it works best
- Large family kitchens
- Open-plan homes
- Entertaining spaces
- Households with plumbed water access
Who it’s for
- Large families
- Entertainers
- Meal preppers
- Bulk grocery shoppers
- Smart home users
Things to consider
It offers strong capacity and convenience, but its 3.5 star energy rating is not as efficient as some higher-end alternatives, and the plumbed dispenser means installation is best suited to kitchens with a nearby water connection.
Family suitability score
9/10 - Large fridge and freezer zones, flexible storage and built-in ice and water make it well suited to busy family use.
Entertaining suitability
9/10 - Wide shelving, strong fresh food space and continuous ice and chilled water are useful for serving guests and storing platters.
Fresh food storage performance
8/10 - The 363L fridge section, adjustable compartments and Multi Air Flow support strong day-to-day fresh food storage.
Energy efficiency vs category
6/10 - A 3.5 star energy rating is reasonable for a large French door fridge, but not especially strong versus more efficient models.
Kitchen space fit
Best for spacious kitchens with clearance for wide French doors and access to a nearby water connection.
Key benefits
- 637L capacity: Large overall storage suits bigger households and weekly grocery shops.
- 363L fridge compartment: Generous fresh food space helps organise produce, dairy and everyday essentials.
- 261L freezer compartment: Ample freezer room supports bulk buying, frozen meals and family-size storage.
- Plumbed ice and water dispenser: Provides continuous chilled water and automatic ice without needing manual refills.
- Slim in-door ice maker: Frees up usable shelf space inside the main fridge compartment.
- Multi Air Flow: Helps maintain more consistent cooling throughout the cabinet to support food freshness.
- UV Nano dispenser nozzle: Helps maintain cleanliness at the water outlet for everyday use.
- Wi-Fi connectivity: Lets you adjust temperature settings remotely and access smart diagnosis support.
Q: Does the ice and water dispenser need a permanent water connection?
A: Yes. GF-L700PL has a plumbed dispenser, so it needs a nearby water connection for continuous chilled water and automatic ice. It is not a refill-tank design, which matters if the fridge will sit away from existing plumbing.
Q: How much space is actually fridge versus freezer in this model?
A: GF-L700PL splits its 637L capacity into 363L of fridge space and 261L of freezer space. That gives more room to fresh food than frozen storage, so it suits households that buy produce, drinks and platters regularly.
Q: Will the slim in-door ice maker take up shelf space?
A: No, not in the main fridge compartment. The slim in-door ice maker is built into the door to preserve more usable shelf space inside. The trade-off is that GF-L700PL still needs plumbing to produce ice automatically.
Q: Can I adjust temperatures from my phone on this fridge?
A: Yes. GF-L700PL supports Wi-Fi connectivity for remote temperature control through LG's app, and it also supports smart diagnosis. Remote control is useful for changes on the go, but it still relies on your home network being set up.
Q: Is a 3.5 star rating efficient for a fridge this size?
A: GF-L700PL has a 3.5 star energy rating. For a 637L French door fridge, a higher star rating generally means lower running costs than another 637L fridge with a lower rating, but large-capacity models still use more energy overall.
Q: What kitchen layout works best for this French door fridge?
A: This model suits kitchens with generous floor space and room for wider doors to swing open fully. Its plumbed water connection also works best where the fridge position is already close to a water point, rather than on an island or remote wall.
