Excellent cooktop, great price at Good Guys

Very good product with many useful features. Got item on sale for a great price at Good Guys. Be aware when purchasing induction cook-tops, and moving away from gas to going electrical in general, that your electricity meter box may need an upgrade. This can be vary costly. I recommend getting advice from an electrician about the power these units will draw when installed.

Things to consider

Limited to three cooking zones, which may not be enough for larger households or complex meal preparation.

Family cooking suitability

7/10 - Well-suited for small to medium families, but limited by three cooking zones for larger gatherings.

Energy efficiency score

8/10 - Induction technology delivers high efficiency, reducing energy waste compared to ceramic or gas.

Cookware compatibility assessment

Requires induction-compatible cookware (magnetic base); not suitable for aluminium or copper pans without induction base.

Safety rating

9/10 - Multiple safety features including pan detection, child lock, and residual heat indicators.

Ease of cleaning

Smooth glass surface is easy to wipe clean, with minimal crevices for food to get trapped.

Key benefits

  • Flexible Cooking Zone: Accommodates larger or irregularly shaped cookware for versatile meal prep.
  • Intuitive Touch Controls: Simple, responsive controls make adjusting heat levels quick and easy.
  • Rapid Induction Heating: Heats up pans quickly for faster meal preparation compared to traditional electric cooktops.
  • Easy Clean Surface: Smooth glass surface allows for effortless wipe-down after cooking.
  • Pan Detection Safety: Automatically detects compatible cookware and shuts off when not in use for added safety.
  • Child Lock Function: Prevents accidental activation, enhancing kitchen safety for families.
  • Residual Heat Indicator: Alerts you when zones are still hot to reduce burn risk.
  • Timer Function: Allows precise cooking times for better results and convenience.

Q: Can the Flexi zone on the LG BCI607T3BG handle larger cookware?

A: Yes. The Flexi zone lets two sections work together for larger pans or grill plates that may not sit well on a single zone. It is still a 60cm cooktop with three zones, so extra-wide cookware can reduce space for other pots.

Q: Do I need special cookware for the LG BCI607T3BG induction cooktop?

A: Yes. This cooktop needs induction-ready cookware with a magnetic, ferrous base, such as many cast iron or stainless steel pans. Aluminium, copper or glass cookware only works if the base includes an induction-compatible magnetic layer.

Q: Can the Wi-Fi on this LG cooktop start cooking remotely?

A: No. The Wi-Fi and ThinQ features are better suited to monitoring and hood pairing than remote cooking. That is useful for status checks and linked ventilation, but cookware and heat settings still need to be managed at the cooktop.

Q: What should I know before replacing a gas or older electric cooktop with the LG BCI607T3BG?

A: This model requires professional installation, and changing from gas or an older cooktop can involve more than a simple swap. Some homes may need a dedicated circuit or switchboard work for induction power draw. Discuss with your electrician.

Q: Is the hood pairing feature useful if I do not have an LG rangehood yet?

A: Hood pairing is most useful if you plan to match this cooktop with an LG-compatible rangehood through ThinQ. If your current hood is not compatible, the cooktop still works normally, but you will miss out on the linked ventilation control.

Q: Is a 3-zone layout enough for everyday cooking on a 60cm cooktop?

A: For many kitchens, yes. The three-zone layout with one Flexi zone suits everyday cooking, especially where bench space is limited. If you often run four separate pots at once, a 4-zone 60cm or wider model may suit better.
