Great product
Loved the JBL Tuner, was disappointed on how long it took to arrive, ordered a couple of weeks before Xmas with date set to arrive before the 25th, unfortunately didn’t arrive until January, if had have know this before hand would have purchased a different brand as it was for my partner for Xmas! Besides that, it’s great!

At a glance
The JBL Tuner 3 DAB Radio is a compact portable radio for people who want simple access to DAB/DAB+ and FM stations at home, outdoors, or while travelling. Its strengths are easy presets, Bluetooth streaming, durable weather-resistant design, and up to 15 hours of battery life. A limitation is that its 7W RMS output is practical for personal listening rather than large spaces.

- Radio Enthusiast
Things to consider
Its 7W RMS speaker output is well suited to personal and small-space listening, but it is not the best choice if you want room-filling sound or advanced smart-radio features such as Wi-Fi streaming.
Emergency suitability
Good for portable access to radio broadcasts during outings or basic backup listening, but not a specialist emergency radio.
Portability rating
9/10 - lightweight 0.5 kg design and cordless operation make it easy to carry and use on the move.
Ease of use score
9/10 - big LCD display, direct preset buttons, and simple radio functions make everyday use straightforward.
Battery endurance rating
8/10 - up to 15 hours of playtime is strong for a compact portable radio.
Reception quality score
8/10 - DAB/DAB+ and FM support provides flexible tuning options, though reception still depends on local signal conditions.
Key benefits
- Dab/dab+/fm radio: Gives you flexible access to both digital and traditional radio stations without needing Wi-Fi or apps.
- Bluetooth streaming: Lets you play music and podcasts wirelessly from a phone or tablet.
- Up to 15 hours playtime: Supports extended listening away from a power point for day trips, outdoor use, or moving around the house.
- Usb-c charging: Makes recharging simpler with a widely used cable type.
- Big clear lcd display: Makes station information easier to read at a glance.
- Six direct preset buttons: Helps you jump quickly to favourite stations without scrolling through menus.
- Waterproof and dustproof design: Better suited to outdoor conditions than a standard indoor-only radio.
- 0.5 kg portable build: Lightweight design makes it easy to carry between rooms or take on the go.
Q: Do I need Wi-Fi or an app to use this radio?
A: No. JBL Tuner 3 receives DAB, DAB+ and FM broadcasts directly, so radio listening does not rely on Wi-Fi, mobile data or a streaming app. Bluetooth is there for playing audio from a phone or tablet, not for tuning live stations.
Q: Can the JBL Tuner 3 stream Spotify from my phone?
A: Yes. JBL Tuner 3 has Bluetooth, so it can play Spotify, podcasts and other audio from a paired phone or tablet. It does not have built-in streaming apps or Wi-Fi, so the content still comes from the connected device rather than the radio itself.
Q: Is the sound strong enough for outdoor listening?
A: Yes, for personal listening and small outdoor settings. JBL Tuner 3 has 7W RMS output, which suits a patio, campsite or pool area better than a large open space or noisy gathering, where a larger speaker will carry further.
Q: Does it come with a USB-C charging cable included?
A: No. The box includes the JBL Tuner 3, a Quick Start Guide, and a warranty card with safety sheet. A USB-C charging cable is not listed in the included accessories, so plan to use a compatible cable and charger you already have.
Q: Will DAB radio still work when travelling outside metro areas?
A: It depends on local broadcast coverage. JBL Tuner 3 supports DAB, DAB+ and FM, so FM can be the fallback where digital coverage is weaker. It does not use internet radio, so reception still depends on the stations available in that area.
Q: Can I use it around the pool or at the beach?
A: Yes. JBL Tuner 3 has waterproof and dustproof construction, so it is better suited to poolside, camping and other outdoor use than an indoor-only radio. It is still a portable radio, so avoid unnecessary exposure to sand build-up or full submersion.
