At a glance
The HP 62 XL Black Ink Cartridge is a high-yield black cartridge for select HP Officejet and ENVY printers, designed for regular home, study, and light office printing. Its main strengths are reliable everyday output and up to 600 pages per cartridge. It suits users who print often but do not need a laser setup. One limitation is that it only works with specific HP 62-series compatible printers.

Things to consider
This cartridge offers solid everyday value, but it is limited to select HP printers that use the 62 series and may not suit higher-volume business environments needing much larger page yields.
Printer compatibility assessment
7/10 - Compatible with several select HP Officejet and ENVY models, but only for printers that use the HP 62 series.
Page yield value score
8/10 - Up to 600 black pages is a strong yield for regular home office and study printing.
Ease of replacement rating
8/10 - Standard HP cartridge format with clear model identification makes replacement relatively simple.
Business vs home suitability
Best for home and small office use; suitable for regular document printing but less ideal for heavier-volume business environments.
Key benefits
- High Yield Capacity: Prints up to 600 black pages, reducing how often you need to replace the cartridge.
- Black Text Printing: Well suited to everyday documents such as forms, notes, and office paperwork.
- HP 62 Series Compatibility: Designed for select HP Officejet and ENVY printers that use the HP 62 cartridge range.
- Home Office Suitability: A practical option for regular household or study printing without stepping up to larger business cartridges.
- Two-Cartridge Setup Support: Typically pairs with the HP 62XL Tri-colour cartridge for standard two-cartridge printer configurations.
- Compact Box Size: Box dimensions of 11.6 cm x 10 cm x 3.7 cm make it easy to store in a desk drawer or cupboard.
- Straightforward Product Matching: Clearly identified as model C2P05AA in black to help buyers choose the correct replacement.
- Regular Printing Value: The 600-page yield offers a measurable advantage for users who print frequently at home or in a study space.
Q: Which printers use the HP 62XL Black Ink Cartridge C2P05AA?
A: The HP 62XL Black C2P05AA suits printers that take HP 62 series cartridges, including selected HP ENVY, OfficeJet and mobile OfficeJet models such as the OfficeJet 200 and 250. Match the cartridge code in the printer or on the old cartridge before buying.
Q: What is the difference between HP 62 Black and HP 62XL Black ink cartridges?
A: The main difference is capacity. HP 62XL Black is the high yield version, so it is designed to print more pages than the standard HP 62 Black before replacement, which can suit regular home office or study printing better than the standard cartridge.
Q: Does this black cartridge work with the HP 62XL Tri-colour cartridge?
A: Yes. In HP printers that use a two-cartridge setup, this HP 62XL Black cartridge is typically paired with the HP 62XL Tri-colour cartridge, model C2P07AA. Both cartridges need to match the printer’s supported HP 62 series for correct operation.
Q: What does the 600 page yield mean for the HP 62XL Black cartridge?
A: The 600 page figure is a standardised yield estimate, not a guarantee for every job. Light text documents usually get closer to that result, while dense black graphics, frequent short print runs and cleaning cycles can reduce the number of pages printed.
Q: Is C2P05AA a suitable replacement if my current cartridge says HP 62 Black?
A: Yes, if the printer uses HP 62 Black, C2P05AA is the high yield black version in the same cartridge family. It is not interchangeable with other HP numbers such as 63, 64 or 65, even if the cartridges look similar from the outside.
