Good value, lots of configurations
As a former physio I was a little dubious that a device could do as good a job as massaging by hand, but I've been surprised and definitely can recommend. It's easy to use (don't need to apply pressure, just let it glide), and has different heads and speeds/pressure settings which provide the ability to cater to different muscle groups and conditions. Take a moment to learn your anatomy! Massaging over bone or kidneys is not pleasant. It's a good little unit and we're happy with our purchase.

At a glance
The Homedics Pro Massage Gun is a cordless deep tissue massager suited to people who want simple, effective muscle recovery at home after exercise or long days on their feet. Its key strengths are quiet operation, practical grip, and useful hot and cool attachments. A fair limitation is that it offers only three speed settings, so fine-tuning is more limited than on premium specialist massage guns.
What it’s great for
- Post-workout recovery
- Targeted muscle relief
- General home massage routines
- Full-body self-massage
Where it works best
- Home
- Apartment
- Home gym
- Recovery corner
Who it’s for
- Active adults
- Gym-goers
- Recreational athletes
- People with everyday muscle tension
Things to consider
With only three speed settings, it offers less precision and customisation than premium massage guns with broader intensity ranges and app-based controls.
Muscle relief effectiveness
8/10 - Strong RPM range and multiple heads make it effective for general deep tissue relief.
Ease of use score
8/10 - Twist controls, charge LEDs and a cordless format keep operation straightforward.
Portability rating
8/10 - Cordless design makes it easy to move around the home and use where needed.
Noise level vs category average
Quieter than average for a percussion massage gun due to its brushless motor design.
Family suitability
Good for shared household use, especially where different users want simple controls and multiple attachment options.
Key benefits
- Deep tissue percussion: 2100 to 3000RPM helps deliver targeted relief for tight and tired muscles.
- Six interchangeable attachments: Lets you adapt treatment to different muscle groups and recovery routines.
- Hot and cool heads: Adds temperature variety for users who prefer warming or cooling massage options.
- Cordless design: Makes it easier to use around the home without being restricted by a power cord.
- Rubber grip handle: Helps provide a steadier, more comfortable hold during longer sessions.
- Ultra quiet brushless motor: Reduces operating noise compared with louder percussion massagers.
- Up to 3.5 hours battery run time: Supports multiple sessions between charges.
- 2.5 hour recharge time: Gets the massage gun ready again in a relatively short charging window.
Q: Is the three-speed control enough for precise intensity changes?
A: This model keeps intensity control simple rather than highly granular. The 3 speed settings cover lighter and stronger percussion, but there is less fine adjustment than massage guns that offer many small speed steps.
Q: Will the handle suit smaller hands for longer sessions?
A: It may not suit every hand size. The rubber grip helps with control, but the handle is on the thicker side and the unit has a solid feel, so buyers with smaller hands may find extended one-handed use less comfortable.
Q: Is it easy to reach shoulders and upper back by yourself?
A: It can be awkward for some users. The cordless shape gives freedom to move, but reaching over the shoulder or across the upper back is less convenient than working on legs, arms or other easier-to-reach areas.
Q: Does battery runtime drop when using the heated or cooled heads?
A: Yes. Heated or cooled attachments can shorten the time between charges compared with a standard head, because those functions add extra load. The massage gun recharges in 2.5 hours, which makes top-ups between sessions fairly practical.
Q: How noisy is this massage gun in a shared room?
A: HoMedics Pro Massage Gun uses a brushless motor, so the sound is softer than harsher older-style designs. It is not silent though, and the percussion noise will still be noticeable in a quiet room, especially on higher settings.
