Good product. Slightly smaller than my previous one which lasted 28 years. Good combination of shelves and storage boxes. Small shelves on door handy.

It did not work at first and had to get a technician out. The service was prompt and he found that the motor was not connected, which was missed. Once he fixed the problem, it works well and we are happy with it.

Love it!
I love that this freezer has both drawers and shelves as well as indoor storage shelves. The drawers are deep and hold a lot, I use the Perspex fridge/freezer containers from Kmart to seperate food and make it easier to access. Freezes well and love the electronic control panel on the front of the door,

At a glance
The Haier 272L Vertical Hybrid Freezer is a versatile upright appliance that lets you switch between fridge and freezer modes, making it ideal for changing household needs. Its high energy ratings and frost-free convenience suit busy families. The reversible door offers flexible placement. One limitation: its 272L capacity may not suit those needing extra-large storage.
What it’s great for
- Flexible Food Storage
- Seasonal Freezing
- Overflow Fridge Space
- Energy-Conscious Households
Where it works best
- Family Kitchen
- Garage
- Apartment Laundry
- Secondary Storage Area
Who it’s for
- Growing Families
- Bulk Shoppers
- Home Entertainers
- Small Households Needing Extra Space
Things to consider
While the 272L capacity is generous for most families, those needing maximum bulk storage may require a larger upright or chest freezer.
Large family suitability
7/10 - Good for most families, but may be small for very large households or bulk storage needs.
Garage placement fit
Suitable for garage placement thanks to reversible door and frost-free design.
Energy efficiency score
9/10 - 6-star rating in fridge mode and 5-star in freezer mode for excellent energy savings.
Bulk storage rating
6/10 - 272L capacity handles moderate bulk storage, but not as spacious as larger uprights or chest freezers.
Key benefits
- Hybrid Fridge/Freezer Mode: Switch easily between fridge and freezer functions to match your changing storage needs.
- Frost-Free Operation: No manual defrosting required, saving time and hassle.
- Reversible Door: Flexible installation options to fit different kitchen or garage layouts.
- SuperFreeze Function: Rapidly lowers temperature to lock in food freshness when freezing large quantities.
- External Control Panel: Intuitive controls allow single-degree temperature adjustment from -24°C to 8°C.
- Eco Mode: Helps reduce energy consumption for lower running costs.
- Child Lock: Adds safety for households with young children.
- Black Finish: Modern appearance suits contemporary kitchens and utility spaces.
Q: Does the ice maker need a water connection installed
A: No. The HVF275DC uses a manual twist ice maker with its own bin, so it does not connect to household plumbing. That suits kitchens, laundries or garages without a water point, but the ice tray still needs to be filled by hand.
Q: Can the door be changed to open the other way
A: Yes. The door is reversible, so the hinge can be changed from the standard right-hand setup to suit the room layout. That is useful if the freezer will sit beside a wall, another appliance or a narrow walkway.
Q: What is the inside layout of this upright freezer
A: Inside, this model uses 3 glass shelves and a separate drawer section, which helps keep everyday items apart from bulk packs. The mixed layout gives quicker visibility than one open cavity, but taller items may need shelf space cleared.
Q: How cold can it run in freezer and fridge modes
A: The touch controls adjust from -24°C to 8°C, so this model can run as a freezer or as extra fridge space when needed. That flexibility suits seasonal overflow storage, but it cannot chill and freeze different foods at the same time.
Q: How energy efficient is it as a freezer or fridge
A: HVF275DC has a 5 star energy rating in freezer mode and a 6 star energy rating in fridge mode. A higher star rating generally means lower running costs than other 272L uprights with a lower rating, depending on how the appliance is used.
Q: Does this freezer have a lock for the controls
A: Yes. The control panel includes a child lock, which helps stop temperature changes being made accidentally at the door. It locks the controls rather than the door itself, so it is not a keyed lock that physically restricts access.
