Good but not great
Review after two to three usages. Good because of size easygoing user interface and convenient controls. Videos are not stabilise on camera. You must have to download on phone using their app. Photo quality is okay. Not great. Night and low light image and videos are nightmares.

Small, Compact and Powerful
Good camera, actually good for this price. If you want to spend more, you have many options. I bought it for specifically my hiking hobby. I don't need any mobile and other cameras when I have it. The only problem with it that you need specific memory card otherwise you cannot use it out of box.

Little Beast!
Great little camera, works well under water. Crystal clear pictures, and compact design makes it perfect for travel especially if you are going to head to the islands for snorkelling. Very compatible with devices, making transfer of files a breeze. Available accessories make it even more versatile.

Great camera for outdoor adventure activities
Purchase for my son, he was delighted to have this! What we didn’t realize was that it needed a reasonable sized SD card to start the process but also accessories are more difficult to find.

Still working out !
We purchased this item recently from a very nice salesperson Aston at the Butler store. He was very helpful but being a little bit tech deficient I still have to work out everything it can do but it has been fun so far.

At a glance
The GoPro HERO is a compact 4K action camera built for people who want a simple, portable way to capture travel, family moments and outdoor activities. Its biggest strengths are its very small size and approachable ease of use. It suits first-time action camera buyers and casual creators best. The main limitation is that it is less feature-rich than GoPro's higher-end Black models.

Things to consider
Compared with GoPro's premium Black-series cameras, HERO is positioned as a simpler, smaller option and is likely the better fit for casual users than buyers wanting the brand's most advanced creative controls and performance.
Outdoor adventure suitability
8/10 - its compact action-camera design makes it a strong fit for travel and general outdoor use.
Video quality score
7/10 - 4K capture is a solid baseline for clear footage in a smaller, simpler camera.
Waterproof performance
Not specified in the provided source.
Beginner vs pro fit
Beginner-leaning; best for casual users who want easy setup and straightforward shooting.
Battery endurance rating
5/10 - battery performance is not detailed in the provided source, so endurance is harder to assess confidently.
Key benefits
- Compact Body: Its very small size makes it easier to carry all day, pack for travel and mount in tight spaces.
- 4K Video: Captures sharp video quality suitable for everyday adventures, travel clips and social content.
- Easy-to-Use Design: A simpler approach makes it more approachable for beginners and casual users.
- Action Camera Form Factor: Designed for active shooting, making it better suited to movement and outdoor use than a standard phone alone.
- GoPro Ecosystem Access: Fits naturally into the GoPro camera lineup for users who want a recognised action camera platform.
- Travel-Friendly Size: The smaller build is convenient for carry-on packing, day trips and spontaneous shooting.
Q: Is this GoPro Hero the CHDHF-131-AS model?
A: Yes. CHDHF-131-AS is the GoPro Hero 4K action camera model code used for this compact HERO variant. The final letters can vary by sales region, but the key product match is the HERO 4K camera in the CHDHF-131 series.
Q: Can the GoPro Hero be used underwater without an extra housing?
A: Yes. This model is waterproof to 5 metres without needing a separate housing, so it suits pool use, rain, surf and shallow snorkelling. It is not the right choice for deeper diving, where a dedicated dive housing is normally needed.
Q: Is the GoPro Hero better for travel and casual use than a larger GoPro Black model?
A: Yes, if small size matters most. At 86g and notably smaller than a HERO12 Black, this HERO is easier to pocket or mount for day trips and casual shooting, but buyers wanting deeper water use or more advanced controls may prefer a Black model.
Q: Does the GoPro Hero have a removable battery?
A: No. This HERO uses a built-in battery rather than the removable battery design found on higher-end GoPro Black cameras. That keeps the body smaller and lighter, but it also means charging the camera itself instead of swapping in a spare battery.
Q: How capable is the GoPro Hero stabilisation for handheld footage?
A: It uses HyperSmooth video stabilisation to automatically smooth shake in everyday clips, which helps for walking, bike paths and handheld travel footage. It improves steadiness in-camera, but very rough impacts can still look less smooth than larger premium models.
Q: Can the GoPro Hero upload footage to the cloud automatically?
A: Yes, when the camera is plugged in to charge, footage can upload to the cloud and be turned into a highlight video that is sent to the phone through the GoPro Quik app. This feature depends on app setup and an active internet connection during upload.
