Google has no customer service in Australia.
The Electricians said the box was missing the 240 V cable to hardwaire I have tried now to contact Google and their help centre has told me they will get someone to contact me but 2 and a half weeks later no joy. Back now to Good guys to try and warranty. Cant get electrical certificate until detector is hardwired. For a multi billion $ company they dont want to talk to consumer New builds need a hardwired

Good quality and easy to set up
An excellent design and well made. The device self checks! Also, act as a night light when you are nearby. The only small issue I had was that I needed to slightly enlarge the existing hole in the plaster board where the old alarm was.

Great product but some issues with electricians
I really like how these work, neat easy software and useful features like pathway lighting. Unfortunately in Darwin it has proven very dificult to find an electrician who will wire them in. There is a claim that they are non compliant, without any justification other than that as a statement Google unfortunately do not have anything to support or contest this so it comes down to the discretion of individual electricians which is absurd. The units carry AS compliance numbers. Bottom line, sort out your electrician first. You wont be sorry about the device, it works perfectly.

Delayed delivery and no response to cancellation request. Received the device after I installed another one. Not a google device fault, its GoodGuys service team which is pathetic.

Expensive but great features
Expensive but great features to try out. The motion night light and automatic tests are a great feature. If you install this in your bedroom the night light can be a annoying for fussy sleepers, but could be great for parents or kids. Sadly the Google Home and Nest app situation is still horrible. One of the features in regards to recording when the alarm goes looks to be limited to older Nest cameras still in the home app. Newer cameras in the Home app might not record. When buying this, consider going in store to purchase it. The expiry dates as per other reviewers say most are built between 2017-2019. The 2017-2019 ones do not have any indication of the date they were built on the outside of the box. I dunno if that has changed. These are programmed to stop working on 10years from the day it leaves the factory. i ended up with 1x 2017 and 1x2018 built one in 2022. My order also had a mistake. I ordered 2x hardwired and was sent 1x battery and 1x hardwired.

Product great - 3 years into 10 year lifespan not so great
The smoke alarm is amazing, I am very happy with the way it performs. It is very annoying however that you are unable to see the manufacturer date until the box is completely opened. For a product with a 10 year life span its frustrating to receive something that is already 3 years into that 10.
