Batteries - Not Suitable for EV Though
Great batteries, kept my torch going brightly for a long time during my night hike. Sadly though, upon returning to my vehicle after hiking for many hours, while the torch still powered, I discovered these Energizer AAAs were completely unable to power my 1994 Toyota Hilux. I tried multiple configurations - single battery, pairs, and even an elaborate arrangement of the entire pack - but none worked. As a last resort, I had to turn the key and fire up the combustion engine like a caveman and drive my pollution machine home. Hopefully Energizer can resolve this critical design flaw quickly. I would love to stop paying for expensive diesel and just pop one of these under the bonnet every few weeks instead.

At a glance
The Energizer Max AAA Batteries 8 Pack is a reliable disposable alkaline option for everyday household devices such as remotes, mice, torches and toys. It suits families and anyone wanting long shelf storage for spares or emergency kits. Key strengths are broad compatibility, leak protection and up to 10 years storage. The main limitation is that they are not rechargeable, so frequent users may prefer rechargeables.

Things to consider
These are single-use batteries, so they are less cost-effective than rechargeable options for devices that need frequent battery replacement.
Device compatibility
Devices requiring standard AAA 1.5V disposable alkaline batteries, including remotes, wireless mice, torches and toys
Long life rating
8/10 - strong shelf life with up to 10 years storage and leak protection after full use
High-drain device suitability
5/10 - suitable for general household electronics, but not the best fit for devices with very frequent or heavy power demand
Rechargeable vs disposable fit
Best for disposable battery use where convenience, shelf storage and simple replacement matter more than rechargeability

Q: Are these AAA batteries suitable for high-drain devices like game controllers?
A: They can power many everyday devices, but they are a better match for remotes, wireless mice, torches and toys than gear that drains batteries quickly. If you change batteries often, rechargeables are usually the more practical option.
Q: Do Energizer Max AAA batteries work in devices labelled LR03?
A: Yes. LR03 is the common code for a standard alkaline AAA battery, so these are the right physical type for devices marked AAA or LR03. They are disposable cells, so they are for battery-powered devices, not for use in a charger.
Q: Can I keep these batteries stored for emergency or seasonal use?
A: Yes. Energizer Max AAA batteries are designed for long shelf storage, which makes them a sensible spare set for torches, emergency kits and seasonal items. They suit devices that may sit unused for long periods between battery changes.
Q: Will these batteries charge in a AAA battery charger?
A: No. Energizer Max AAA batteries are single-use alkaline cells, so a battery charger is not the right place to use them. They are meant to be replaced when flat, which suits low-use devices more than gadgets that need frequent battery swaps.
Q: What does the leak protection help with in everyday devices?
A: PowerSeal leak protection is designed to reduce the risk of battery leakage damaging the device after normal use. That matters most in items like remotes or torches that often get left with flat batteries inside for a while before replacement.
