At a glance
The Dimplex 40cm Digital Pedestal Fan is a practical cooling option for bedrooms, living spaces and home offices needing adjustable airflow. Its 12 speeds, digital controls and oscillation make it easy to tailor comfort, while the 15W brushless DC motor helps keep running power low. It suits everyday home use well, though it may not match the airflow strength of larger high-velocity fans.

Things to consider
This fan is well suited to everyday room cooling, but users wanting very powerful airflow for large open areas may prefer a larger or high-velocity pedestal fan.

8/10 - the brushless DC motor and low 15W operation suggest it is well suited to quieter bedroom use.
Room size suitability
Small to medium rooms
Portability rating
7/10 - slim pedestal styling should be easy to reposition around the home, though it is still a full-height floor fan.
Ease of assembly
8/10 - typical pedestal fan setup should be straightforward for most users.
Key benefits
- 40cm Blade Diameter: helps move air effectively across bedrooms, living spaces and home offices.
- 12 Speed Settings: gives you finer control over airflow to suit changing comfort needs through the day.
- Brushless DC Motor: uses 15W for lower power consumption than many higher-wattage fan designs.
- Automatic Oscillation: spreads airflow more evenly around the room instead of focusing it in one direction.
- Digital Display: makes it simple to view and adjust settings quickly.
- Pedestal Design: elevates airflow for more effective circulation when placed beside beds, sofas or desks.
- 125cm Height: offers good air distribution while fitting neatly into corners or beside furniture.
- Slim Profile: takes up less visual and floor space, making placement easier in compact rooms.
Q: Can this pedestal fan cool a large open-plan room?
A: No. Dimplex DCPF40WD is designed to circulate air across a room, using a 40cm blade and oscillation for wider coverage. It suits bedrooms, living areas and home offices better than very large open-plan spaces, and it does not refrigerate the air.
Q: How adjustable is the airflow on this Dimplex pedestal fan?
A: Dimplex DCPF40WD gives more control than a basic pedestal fan, with 12 speed settings and a digital display for quick changes. That suits buyers who want to fine-tune airflow through the day, rather than relying on only a low, medium or high setting.
Q: Will the 125cm height work beside a bed or desk?
A: Yes, in many setups. The 125cm height and slim pedestal design make it practical beside a bed, lounge or desk without taking over the room. It is better for airflow at seated or standing level than for pushing air from right down near the floor.
Q: Is the 15W DC motor mainly about lower running costs?
A: Yes. Dimplex DCPF40WD uses a brushless DC motor rated at 15W, so it is designed to keep power use lower than many larger, higher-draw fans. Airflow still depends on the speed you choose, so lower wattage is not the same as maximum output on every setting.
Q: Would this fan suit overnight use in a bedroom?
A: Yes. Dimplex DCPF40WD suits overnight room air circulation because its 12 speeds let you dial airflow back more precisely than a basic fan. It is still a pedestal fan with exposed blades, not a tower or bladeless design, so the airflow feel stays direct.
