Dyson Hair Care FAQs
Using a Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer is simple, here's some easy to follow steps:
Towel-dry your hair first to remove excess water.
Attach the right accessory for your needs (smoothing nozzle, diffuser, styling concentrator, etc.).
Turn it on using the power button.
Adjust heat and airflow settings to suit your hair type (lower heat for fine hair, higher for thick/coarse).
Style as you dry—hold the dryer at a distance and use a brush or your fingers to guide your hair.
Use the cold shot button at the end to set your style.
No—the Dyson Airwrap™ is specifically designed to help minimize heat damage. It uses the Coanda effect (aerodynamic airflow) instead of extreme heat to style your hair. It constantly regulates temperature to stay below damaging levels—great for protecting your hair's natural shine and strength over time.
If the Airwrap™ isn’t grabbing your hair try:
Using smaller sections of hair (about 1-inch wide).
Hold the barrel vertically, with the arrows pointing away from your face.
Bring the ends of your hair close to the barrel—the Coanda effect should pull it in automatically.
Let it wrap fully before moving upward toward the roots.
Practice! It may take a few tries to find the sweet spot.
Also, make sure hair is about 80–90% dry—too wet or too dry can affect how well it grips.
The Dyson Airstrait™ is designed for straightening and drying wet hair using airflow—not for curling. You can add slight bends or shape at the ends, but if you’re after defined curls or waves, the Airwrap™ is the better tool.
For best results, your hair should be damp (around 80% dry) when using the curling or smoothing attachments. If your hair is already dry:
Lightly mist it with water before styling, or
Use the pre-styling dryer attachment to re-dampen it.
Using it on completely dry hair might not give you long-lasting or well-formed styles.
