Things to consider
This cartridge offers strong value for black document printing, but it is limited to compatible Brother printers and is less suitable if you need broader printer compatibility or specialist photo-focused output.
Printer compatibility assessment
8/10 - Strong fit for specified Brother models, but compatibility is limited to printers designed for the LC-237XL series.
Page yield value score
8/10 - Up to 1,200 pages gives solid value for frequent black document printing.
Ease of replacement rating
9/10 - Genuine model-specific cartridge makes replacement simple when matched to the correct printer.
Business vs home suitability
Best for home office and small business users with regular black document printing needs.
Key benefits
- High Yield Capacity: Prints up to 1,200 pages, helping reduce replacement frequency compared with standard-yield cartridges.
- Genuine Brother Ink: Designed to work with specified Brother printers for consistent everyday printing results.
- Black Ink Output: Well suited to text-heavy documents such as reports, forms and study materials.
- Fewer Cartridge Changes: XL capacity means less frequent interruptions for users with regular printing needs.
- Home Office Friendly: A practical choice for home-based work where reliable black document printing is a priority.
- Study Use Ready: Suitable for students who regularly print notes, drafts and assignment documents.
- Model-Specific Match: Compatible with Brother DCP-J4120DW and Brother MFC-J4620DW for straightforward cartridge selection.
Q: Which Brother printers are compatible with the LC-237 XL Black Ink Cartridge?
A: This cartridge is listed for the Brother DCP-J4120DW and Brother MFC-J4620DW. Brother ink cartridges are not universal, so the LC-237XL Black should only be used in printers designed for the LC-237XL and related series.
Q: How many pages can the Brother LC-237XL Black cartridge print?
A: It yields approximately 1200 pages at 5% page coverage. That test condition means short text-heavy documents, so frequent graphics, bold headings or large solid areas of black will reduce the number of pages you get in everyday use.
Q: What does the XL in Brother LC-237XL mean for everyday printing?
A: XL means this is a high-yield black cartridge designed to print more pages before replacement. For regular home office or study use, that usually means fewer cartridge changes than a standard-yield option, especially if black text is printed often.
Q: Is the Brother LC-237XL Black a genuine Brother cartridge or a compatible alternative?
A: This model is a genuine Brother ink cartridge, not a third-party compatible. That matters if you want the original Brother cartridge code LC-237XLBK and a product matched to printers that are specified to use this exact ink series.
