Impressive that I bought a second one for real stereo experience
Amazing speaker. Bought one last year, added one more recently for better soundstage. What an incredible upgrade. Had to update firmware on the new speaker and then it paired seamlessly. Have got so many compliments from friends and visitors on the sound quality.

Fantastic Speaker with Thumping Bass
It's hefty, solid in construction and pumps out music to fill a large open area. The app is nice as you can toggle the EQ. Being waterproof is a huge plus for beach/boat days too.

Excellent speaker for home and outdoor
I spent a lot of time in selecting the right speaker as I wanted something that could sync with the existing Bose speaker to create a room filling sound. Bose Soundlink Max is a good choice I made. Feels solid, easy connectivity, amazing room filling sound (that I wanted), loud enough for outdoor use, good battery life (was on for almost the entire day). Overall a very good speaker for home and outdoor use.

Things to consider
At 2.2 kg, it is less convenient for ultra-light travel or day-long carrying than smaller portable speakers.
Portability rating
7/10 - portable with a sturdy handle, but 2.2 kg makes it better for short carries than ultra-light travel.
Outdoor suitability
Excellent for outdoor use thanks to IP67 dust and water resistance and a durable, easy-carry design.
Battery endurance rating
9/10 - up to 20 hours of runtime supports extended listening through most of a full day.
Audio quality score
9/10 - strong stereo presentation and deep bass make it well suited to larger spaces and social listening.
Multi-device compatibility
Very good - Bluetooth 5.4 with multi-point support makes it practical for sharing between multiple devices.
Key benefits
- Bluetooth 5.4: Provides stable wireless music streaming from compatible devices without needing cables.
- Up to 20-hour battery life: Supports long listening sessions and day-to-night use on a single charge.
- IP67 rating: Handles dust, splashes, rain and brief fresh-water immersion for more confident outdoor use.
- Sturdy carry handle: Makes it easier to move the speaker between rooms, the backyard or the beach.
- Epic stereo sound: Delivers a bigger, more room-filling sound that suits social spaces and gatherings.
- Deep bass: Adds stronger low-end impact for music styles that benefit from fuller bass response.
- Multi-point Bluetooth: Lets you switch between connected devices more easily without repeated pairing.
- Bose app EQ adjustment: Allows you to tailor the sound to your preferences and listening environment.
Q: Does the Bose SoundLink Max come with a wall charger?
A: No. The box includes the Bose SoundLink Max speaker, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and user material. A wall plug is not included, so you will need a compatible USB-C power adapter if you want to charge it from a mains outlet.
Q: Can you pair SoundLink Max with another Bose speaker?
A: Yes. Bose SoundLink Max supports Bose SimpleSync compatibility for use with compatible Bose speakers and soundbars. Compatibility is not universal across every Bose product, so check your exact Bose model before buying a second speaker.
Q: Is the SoundLink Max light enough for beach and park trips?
A: Yes, for short carry distances. The Bose SoundLink Max weighs 2.2kg and has a sturdy handle, so it is practical for moving between rooms, the backyard or the beach, but it is more substantial than compact portable speakers.
Q: How far can your phone be from the speaker over Bluetooth?
A: The Bose SoundLink Max has a Bluetooth range of 30ft. That gives some flexibility around a room or outdoor seating area, but walls, people and wireless interference can shorten the range and make closer placement more reliable.
Q: Can two phones stay connected to SoundLink Max at once?
A: Yes. The Bose SoundLink Max supports multi-point Bluetooth connection, so it can stay linked to more than one device for easier switching. That is useful in shared spaces where different people may take turns playing music.
Q: Is the Bose app required to use SoundLink Max?
A: No. The Bose SoundLink Max can stream music over Bluetooth without the app. The Bose app is useful if you want to adjust EQ settings, so it matters more for buyers who like to fine-tune bass, treble or overall sound balance.
