So far so good.
Great product. The auto detergent dosing function works great. Saves on detergent. Hopefully it lasts another 10 years like my previous Bosch 8kg washer.

Bosch 9kg front loader WGG244A1AU
Easy to use. Like the idos. Replaced my old Bosch Frontier which lasted 16 years. What I like is the idos on it. It is very quiet. Washes well

Love the iDose Feature
First time having a front loader so can't really compare to others but really like the iDose features so no need to refill detergent and fabric softener every wash - absolutely worth the extra money.

Great Quality
The ability to warm the water for the wash without using really hot water directly. We live in a very cold environment and I feel the very cold water was not washing our clothes well enough. I do all of our washes at 40deg and the difference is amazing. our clothes are washing up so much better than our old top loader.

Quality at a good price
We replaced our 13 year old Siemens washing machine with this Bosch unit. They are essentially the same. Love the I dos feature. Hopefully this will give us 13 years of reliable service.

At a glance
The Bosch WGG244A1AU is a 9kg front load washer built for households that want larger loads, simple detergent management and strong day-to-day fabric care. Its key strengths are auto dosing, a fast 1400 rpm spin and family-friendly capacity. A fair limitation is that it uses a cold wash only water connection, which may not suit buyers wanting a hot water inlet option.

Key benefits
- 9kg Capacity: handles larger household loads and can fit towels, school uniforms, mixed washing, queen-size bedding and lighter doonas.
- Auto Dosing: automatically measures detergent and softener for each wash, reducing guesswork and helping prevent overuse.
- 1400 rpm Spin Speed: removes more water at the end of the cycle to help reduce drying time.
- Delicates Program: gives gentler care for lighter and more delicate garments.
- Wool Program: provides a more suitable wash option for wool items that need extra care.
- 5 Star Energy Rating: supports lower electricity use, backed by a 5 star Australian energy rating.
- 4.5 Star WELS Water Rating: helps manage water use with a 4.5 star WELS rating and estimated consumption of 84 L per wash cycle.
- AllergyPlus Option: adds a more hygiene-focused wash option for households wanting extra care for sensitive laundry needs.
Q: Does this Bosch washer need a hot water connection?
A: No. Bosch WGG244A1AU uses a cold wash only water connection, so it does not connect to a household hot tap. That suits many modern laundries, but it matters if you are replacing an older washer that used both hot and cold inlets.
Q: How does i-DOS work on the Bosch WGG244A1AU?
A: Bosch WGG244A1AU uses auto dosing to measure detergent and softener for each load instead of relying on a manual pour every time. That can reduce overuse, but the reservoirs still need topping up and the feature is about convenience, not extra wash capacity.
Q: What does the AllergyPlus program actually do on this washer?
A: AllergyPlus is a dedicated hygienic wash option for loads that need more thorough treatment than an everyday cycle. Bosch WGG244A1AU is designed around consistent washing and rinsing, but it is still a clothes washer, not a medical device.
Q: Can it wash wool and delicate clothes without harsh treatment?
A: Yes. Bosch WGG244A1AU includes dedicated programs for wool and delicates, so it is built for gentler handling than a standard everyday cycle. Care labels still matter, and items marked hand wash only should not be assumed safe in any machine program.
Q: Will a burst inlet hose flood the laundry room?
A: Bosch WGG244A1AU includes AquaSecure water protection to help limit water escape if there is an inlet hose problem. It is a useful safeguard for indoor laundries, but it does not replace correct hose setup and ongoing checks for wear.
Q: Is this washer mainly about washing performance or smart features?
A: Bosch WGG244A1AU is aimed more at wash performance, auto dosing and hygiene-focused programs than app-led extras. It suits buyers who want strong day-to-day laundry features, but not those shopping specifically for broader smart-home control.
