At a glance
Bissell Professional Stain And Odour is a machine-use carpet cleaning formula for carpets, rugs and upholstery. It suits pet owners and busy households wanting a straightforward whole-home cleaning solution with odour control. Its key strengths are easy use in compatible Bissell washers and a 750 mL bottle that lasts multiple sessions. The main limitation is that it is designed primarily for Bissell machines and delicate fabrics need patch testing.
What it’s great for
- Routine carpet washing
- Pet accident clean-ups
- Odour reduction
- Whole-home cleaning
- Upholstery refreshes
Where it works best
- Pet-friendly homes
- Busy family households
- Carpeted living rooms
- Rugs and runners
- Upholstered furniture
Who it’s for
- Pet owners
- Families with children
- Busy households
- Bissell carpet washer owners
- Home cleaners wanting machine-wash convenience
Things to consider
This formula is best suited to compatible Bissell carpet washers, so it is less versatile than some specialist stain removers or broader cross-brand formulas.
Pet & child home suitability
Well suited to pet homes and busy family households when used as directed; patch test on delicate fabrics first.
Stain removal effectiveness
8/10 - Designed to remove everyday carpet and upholstery stains effectively during machine washing.
Ease of application
9/10 - Simple to use in the formula tank of compatible Bissell carpet washers.
Odour removal score
8/10 - Formulated to tackle odours alongside stain cleaning, especially useful in pet households.
Key benefits
- Stain Removal Formula: Helps lift common carpet and upholstery stains during machine washing.
- Odour Control: Designed to reduce unpleasant smells while cleaning soft surfaces.
- Multi-Surface Cleaning: Suitable for carpets, rugs and upholstery for broader household use.
- Machine Tank Use: Pours directly into the formula tank of compatible Bissell washers for straightforward setup.
- Pet Home Friendly: A practical option for homes dealing with pet-related messes and lingering odours.
- 750 mL Bottle: Provides approximately 3 to 6 formula tank fills, depending on machine size and cleaning area.
- Routine Maintenance Use: Works well for regular carpet washer sessions as well as occasional heavier spot treatment.
- Whole-Home Cleaning Support: Useful for cleaning multiple soft-furnishing areas with one formula type.
Q: Can this formula be used without a Bissell carpet washer?
A: No. Bissell Professional Stain And Odour is designed for the formula tank of compatible Bissell carpet washers, not as a general hand-applied cleaner. If you want to treat a spot manually, this is not the most flexible option.
Q: Which Bissell machines is 78H6E compatible with?
A: Bissell 78H6E is listed for a wide range of Bissell carpet washers, including models such as 3670F, 3672H, 3631F and 1558X. It is intended for listed compatible machines rather than unlisted washers or non-Bissell units.
Q: Will this remove pet odours and stubborn carpet stains?
A: Bissell Professional Stain And Odour is made to help remove stains and reduce odours during machine washing, including common pet messes. It suits regular whole-home cleaning, but some old or set-in marks may still need a dedicated spot treatment.
Q: How many tank fills do you get from the 750mL bottle?
A: The 0.75L bottle typically gives around 3 to 6 formula tank fills, depending on your Bissell machine and how much area you are cleaning. Larger tanks and full-room washes will use it faster than smaller spot jobs.
Q: Is it suitable for rugs, carpets and fabric lounges?
A: Yes. This formula is intended for carpets, rugs and upholstery during machine washing with a compatible Bissell cleaner. Delicate fabrics should be patch tested first, so it is better suited to washable household fabrics than fragile finishes.
Q: Should I mix this with homemade carpet cleaner solution?
A: No. This formula is meant to be used as the cleaning solution in the formula tank, not mixed with homemade cleaners or other chemicals. Sticking to the intended use helps avoid unpredictable cleaning results on carpets and upholstery.
