Very pleased to return to iPhone
This iPhone 17 Pro Max from Good Guys is a breath of fresh air and feel I have returned to a reliable mobile phone after my Samsung of the last 3 years. Not saying that about all Samsung phones as those of my wife and son have fared much better. However, it is gratifying to return to a phone with a longer-lasting battery as with this iPhone 17 Pro Max. I guess I expected much more from a battery promoted as "Up to 37 hours" of video playback and having the best battery so far in an iPhone, after using a Samsung with battery life that had much more to be desired. Admittedly, there are battery percentage levels on the iPhone that having been very impressive, e.g., recently it was at 77% for quite a few hours. I don't know if it is my particular phone or relates generally to the iPhone 17 range, but the percentage level appears to jump down surprisingly at times. For instance, it was at 76%, but was surprisingly at 72% so suddenly and quickly after being at 76%. Why? The wallpapers for lock screen and home screen which I was setting up. I can't delete previous, irrelevant wallpaper pairs. Not the worst problem and I've achieved a wallpaper pair I am finally satisfied with. Being in IT, I am of the mindset that if a device/system retains something I no longer need, I should have the opportunity to remove it. The build of the phone feels quite solid, and glad to know it has Ceramic Shield 2 on both sides. Nice blue colour of the phone for a guy like me. This is the first time I am not placing a screen protector on a phone. I am trying out reliance on the scratchproof surface of the screen. Since I picked up the phone at the end of October, I have not yet scratched the screen, so it might work out for me? Not necessarily suggesting this to other customers. If there were 0.5 stars for ratings of products, I would rate this phone at 4.5 stars given the above matters. Since it is overall a gratifying experience with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, I am happy to give it 5 stars. I heard just today that the tech expert of Sky News, Djuro Sen, has ranked this exact iPhone 17 model as his number 2 phone of 2025.
