At a glance
This compact reverse cycle window wall air conditioner is a practical choice for small bedrooms and home offices up to 20 square metres. It offers cooling and heating in one unit, easy remote operation, flexible fan speeds and fresh air return. Its main strength is simple all-in-one installation for tighter spaces. The trade-off is lower energy efficiency than more advanced split systems.

Things to consider
Compared with premium split systems, it has a lower energy rating at 2 stars cooling and 1 star heating, and indoor noise may be more noticeable in very quiet rooms.
Apartment cooling suitability
Good for small apartments or bedrooms where window or wall installation is allowed and a split system is not practical.
Diy installation friendliness
4/10 - simpler than a split system in concept, but window wall fitting usually needs careful measuring and may require professional installation.
Noise level vs category
6/10 - indoor noise of 47 to 51 dBA is typical for a box air conditioner, but louder than many split systems.
Energy efficiency score
4/10 - 2-star cooling and 1-star heating indicate basic efficiency rather than a high-efficiency option.
Key benefits
- Reverse Cycle Heating and Cooling: Delivers year-round comfort from one unit, with 2.2 kW cooling and 1.9 kW heating capacity.
- Small Room Coverage: Well suited to bedrooms and compact spaces, with heating recommended for areas up to 20 square metres.
- Window Wall Design: Fits into a window or wall opening, making it practical where a split system may not suit the space.
- LCD Remote Control: Lets you adjust temperature and settings from across the room for everyday convenience.
- Five Fan Speeds: Gives you more control over airflow so you can tailor comfort to the season and room conditions.
- Fresh Air Return: Helps introduce extra ventilation to the room, useful for stuffy small spaces.
- Sleep Mode and 12-Hour Timer: Supports overnight comfort and scheduled operation to better match your daily routine.
- Airflow Performance: Maximum airflow of 1728 m3/hr helps move conditioned air through compact rooms effectively.
Q: Will this air conditioner suit a bedroom or study space?
A: Yes. WWH22HWA is sized for small enclosed rooms up to 20 square metres, such as a bedroom, study or compact home office. It is a better fit for one room at a time than a larger open-plan area.
Q: How noisy is the Westinghouse WWH22HWA inside the room?
A: Westinghouse WWH22HWA runs at 47dBA to 51dBA indoors, depending on fan speed. That is reasonable for a window wall unit, but it will still be noticeable in a quiet room, especially if low background noise matters to you.
Q: Can this box air conditioner heat in cooler weather?
A: Yes. WWH22HWA is a reverse cycle model with 1.9kW heating capacity, so it can warm a small room as well as cool it. It is better suited to compact spaces than larger or draughty areas that need stronger heating.
Q: What does fresh air return actually do on this model?
A: Fresh air return lets WWH22HWA bring additional ventilation into the room while it operates. It adds airflow variety, but this model is still primarily designed to cool or heat a small enclosed space rather than ventilate a whole home.
Q: Is this a good choice where a split system won't fit?
A: Yes. WWH22HWA is an all-in-one window wall unit, so it suits homes with a suitable window or wall opening where a separate indoor and outdoor system is not practical. Accurate opening size and secure fitting still matter before buying.
Q: Does sleep mode make the unit quieter overnight?
A: No. Sleep mode is there to support overnight operation, but WWH22HWA still makes the normal indoor noise of a window wall air conditioner. If low noise matters most, the 47dBA low setting is the most useful guide before buying.
