Product Overview

The 90cm Induction Cooktop heats five cooking zones across a spacious black ceramic glass surface.

This Westinghouse cooktop suits larger households or batch cooking routines, with Bridge Zone and MaxiZone features allowing the use of oversized pots and pans. The 90cm width and five induction zones provide flexibility for preparing multiple dishes at once, making it ideal for family meals or entertaining.

Touch and Slide controls offer nine power levels for precise heat adjustment. The programmable timer supports up to 99 minutes, while Pause and Keep Warm functions help manage cooking interruptions. BoilProtect senses rising bubbles and lowers the heat to prevent boil-overs on two zones. Hob2Hood technology can trigger compatible rangehoods automatically as cooking begins. Safety features include a child lock and residual heat indicator.

Model WHI955BD in black comes with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

    Great features

We cant believe how quickly this cooktop reaches its heat! Water was boiling not long after being placed on the element, unlike our old cooktop which seemed to take for ever! Easy to understand controls and love the lock feature.

    Happy with purchase

Cooking with induction is a big change from gas. It takes a moment to get used to it. Luckily, Westinghouse have made it simple and intuitive to use their cooktop. It has the built in Hob2Hood feature which turns the fan and overhead light on automatically and adjusts with the amount of steam. Happy with the purchase so far.

At a glance

This 90cm Westinghouse induction cooktop is a strong fit for families, frequent home cooks and entertainers who need space for multiple pots at once. Its five zones, Bridge Zone, MaxiZone and BoilProtect make larger meals easier to manage, while touch slide controls keep operation simple. A fair limitation is that some advanced boil-over support only applies on two zones, not the whole cooktop.

Who it’s for

Things to consider

BoilProtect support is limited to two zones, so it does not provide the same level of automated boil-over control across the entire cooktop as some higher-end alternatives.

Family cooking suitability

Excellent for larger households thanks to the 90cm width, five zones and flexible large-pan cooking features.

Energy efficiency score

8.5/10 - induction cooking directs heat into compatible cookware and helps reduce wasted heat compared with many radiant electric cooktops.

Cookware compatibility assessment

Requires induction-compatible cookware; best suited to households already using magnetic pots and pans or willing to update key pieces.

Safety rating

9/10 - includes child lock, residual heat indicator and boil-over assistance on 2 zones for strong everyday kitchen safety support.

Ease of cleaning

9/10 - the flat black ceramic glass surface is easy to wipe down, with fewer crevices than gas cooktops.

Key benefits

  • Five induction zones: gives you room to cook several dishes at once, making it easier to manage family meals or entertaining.
  • Bridge Zone: lets you link two zones for oversized cookware or long pans, adding flexibility for bigger recipes.
  • MaxiZone: provides a larger cooking area for big pots and pans so heat is applied more evenly across wider cookware.
  • Touch and Slide controls with 9 power levels: makes heat changes quick and precise for simmering, boiling or searing.
  • Programmable timer up to 99 minutes: helps track cooking times accurately without needing constant checking.
  • Pause and Keep Warm functions: helps you handle interruptions without fully stopping the meal or letting food cool too quickly.
  • BoilProtect on 2 zones: detects rising bubbles and reduces heat to a simmer to help prevent boil-overs when using suitable pots filled with water.
  • Hob2Hood compatibility: can automatically trigger a compatible rangehood as cooking starts, helping manage steam and cooking odours with less manual adjustment.

Q: Will my current pots and pans work on this induction cooktop?

A: Only induction-compatible cookware will work. Pots and pans need a magnetic base, so many aluminium or copper pieces without an induction layer will not heat, even if they sit flat on the glass surface.

Q: Does Hob2Hood work with any rangehood or only selected models?

A: Hob2Hood works with compatible rangehoods, not every rangehood. If your existing hood does not support Hob2Hood, the cooktop still works normally, but fan speed and lights will need to be controlled manually.

Q: How does BoilProtect work on the Westinghouse WHI955BD in practice?

A: BoilProtect detects rising bubbles and drops the heat to a low simmer to help stop water boiling over. It applies on 2 zones and is intended for stainless steel and enamelled pots filled with water only, not every cooking task.

Q: What is the difference between Bridge Zone and MaxiZone here?

A: Bridge Zone links 2 zones so longer or larger cookware can heat across both areas. MaxiZone is a single extra-large zone for oversized pans, so they solve different layout needs rather than doing the same job.

Q: Can I pause cooking and then keep food warm afterwards?

A: Yes. The WHI955BD includes both a Pause function and a Keep Warm setting, so it is suited to short interruptions while cooking. These features help with timing, but they are not a substitute for active cooking on higher heat.

Q: Does the glass stay hot after cooking finishes on this model?

A: Yes. Induction heats the pan directly, but the glass can still stay hot from contact with hot cookware. The residual heat indicator shows when an area is still hot, so it should not be treated as cool immediately after use.
