Great little fan
This is a great little fan for circulating air around a small room like a bedroom. It pushes a lot of air and creates a whole-of-room breeze. No frills on the controls - on/off and 2 or three speeds. No timer. Not as cumbersome as a pedestal fan and will store nicely in the box in the off season.

Small but mighty air flow and great option to change air flow direction - good value considering the price paid for this fan

Powerful air flow
A compact unit that doesn't take up valuable floor space, but the most powerful fan we have owned. We are fan people, have them running pretty much constantly and this is the best we have had. Highly recommend.

Moves air with ease
This little fan is amazing at moving air. My wife often uses it to help dry the clothes in the cold wet weather we have been having. It isn't the quietest of fans but that's not what it is about. If you want air moving, these are great. If you want quiet this isn't for you.

Key benefits
- Vortex Air Circulation: Helps move air through a small room more broadly than a basic direct-only desk fan.
- 18.6 cm Blade Diameter: Compact fan head suits bedside tables, study areas and other tighter spaces.
- Maximum Airflow 543 m3/hr: Delivers solid air movement for refreshing small rooms and personal spaces.
- 90 Degree Tilt Adjustment: Lets you direct airflow higher or lower to better target where cooling is needed.
- 3 Speed Settings: Gives simple control over airflow strength without complicated setup.
- 52 dBA Noise Level: Operates more quietly on lower settings, making it easier to use in bedrooms or study spaces.
- 2 kg Lightweight Design: Easy to carry between rooms or reposition around the home.
- Detachable Grill: Makes cleaning and ongoing maintenance easier.
Q: Does this fan oscillate or just push air one way
A: No. Vornado 71460 does not oscillate. It uses fixed-position vortex airflow instead, so air movement depends on how you angle the head and place the unit, which suits steady whole-room circulation more than a side-to-side sweep.
Q: Will this circulate air through a large open-plan room
A: No. Vornado 71460 is better suited to small rooms than large open-plan spaces. Its maximum airflow is 543 cubic metres per hour, so it is built for localised whole-room circulation rather than filling a broad area on its own.
Q: Is it quiet enough for a bedroom or study
A: Vornado 71460 is reasonably quiet on lower speeds, with a listed noise level of 52dBA. It suits bedrooms and studies where constant air movement matters, but the higher settings will sound more noticeable than the low setting.
Q: Can you aim the airflow up toward a bed or desk
A: Yes. The chrome glide bar lets the head tilt to 90 degrees, so airflow can be aimed higher or lower instead of straight ahead only. That makes it easier to direct air across a bed, desk, or another part of a small room.
Q: Are the controls on the fan itself or remote operated
A: The controls are on the unit itself. Vornado 71460 has 3 speed settings and no remote control, which keeps operation simple but means speed changes need to be made at the fan rather than from across the room.
Q: Is the front grill removable for easier cleaning
A: Yes. Vornado 71460 has a detachable grill, which makes it easier to access the blades for cleaning than a fully fixed front cover. It is still a manual clean, so there is no filter system here to catch dust before it reaches the blades.
