At a glance
The Uniden KVWT01 is a two-pack of video walkie talkies built for short-range voice and visual contact around the house, backyard or campsite. It suits families and casual users who want simple Push-to-Talk operation, rechargeable batteries and easy-to-identify handsets. Its key strength is real-time two-way video in a straightforward handheld format. The main limitation is its modest 400 metre open-space range compared with longer-range outdoor models.

Things to consider
This model is best for nearby contact, with up to 400 metres open-space range, so it is less suited to long-distance communication or more demanding outdoor use than higher-powered specialist walkie talkies.
Outdoor adventure suitability
Best for casual camping, caravan parks and nearby outdoor coordination rather than long-range or remote-area adventures.
Family use friendliness
9/10 - Simple Push-to-Talk controls, rechargeable design and different handset colours make it easy for family use.
Range vs category
5/10 - Up to 400 metres open-space range is suitable for nearby use but shorter than many dedicated long-range walkie talkies.
Battery endurance score
6/10 - Rechargeable batteries and USB-C charging are convenient, but no runtime figure is provided.

Q: How far do these work outside the house or campsite?
A: Uniden KVWT01 suits short-range use, with a quoted range of 400 metres in open space. That figure is a best-case condition, so walls, caravans, trees and uneven ground can reduce both voice contact and live video before that point.
Q: Do they need Wi-Fi or a phone for video calls?
A: No. Uniden KVWT01 is a self-contained pair of handheld video walkie talkies, so two users can talk and see each other directly between the included units. It is built for nearby contact, not app-based calling or mobile network use.
Q: Are these suitable for bushwalking or remote camping trips?
A: No. Uniden KVWT01 is better suited to a backyard, local park or campsite where both users stay relatively close. The 1W transmit power and open-space range figure make it a nearby coordination tool, not a long-range adventure radio.
Q: What is included with the Uniden KVWT01 walkie talkie pack?
A: The pack includes two handheld units, one yellow and one blue, plus two charging cables. It is ready for two-person use straight away, but the included contents do not add extra handsets for a larger group conversation.
Q: Does USB-C charging work on both handheld units?
A: Yes. Both handsets are rechargeable and the box includes two charging cables, so each unit can be topped up without buying disposable batteries. This is convenient for regular family or campsite use between shorter communication sessions.
