Q: Does the parking mode on the Uniden 5K Ultra HD Smart DashCam need extra hardware?
A: Yes. Parking mode usually needs a constant power connection, so it is typically used with Uniden's optional HWK-3N hardwire kit rather than a standard 12V socket, which often switches off when the car is parked.
Q: Can this Uniden dash cam be expanded with a rear camera?
A: Yes, this model is listed as compatible with Uniden Dash View 60R rear camera accessories, including a 9 metre rear camera cable. That longer cable is useful for SUVs, vans and other vehicles where a short cable may not reach.
Q: How much footage can the included 64GB microSD card hold at 5K resolution?
A: A 64GB card will typically hold only a few hours of continuous 5K footage before loop recording starts overwriting older unlocked files. Expect less time if higher bitrates are used or if a rear camera is connected as well.
Q: Does built-in WiFi on the Uniden 5K Ultra HD Smart DashCam mean footage is stored in the cloud?
A: No. Built-in WiFi is mainly for connecting the dash cam to a phone for app control and file access when nearby, while recordings are stored on the included microSD card rather than sent to cloud storage over mobile data.
Q: Why does the Sony Starvis sensor matter on this Uniden dash cam?
A: Because the Sony Starvis sensor is designed to improve low-light recording, it can help capture clearer night footage in streets, car parks and poor weather. It still cannot fully overcome glare, dirty glass or very fast closing speeds.
Q: Is 5K recording a real advantage over a lower resolution dash cam?
A: Yes. 5K recording can capture finer detail for number plates, road signs and wider scenes, especially if footage needs to be cropped later. The trade-off is larger file sizes, so the included 64GB card fills faster than with lower resolutions.
