Things to consider
It delivers strong everyday Wi-Fi 6 performance, but users wanting whole-home mesh expansion, advanced gaming controls or higher-class wireless speeds may prefer a more premium router system.
Large home coverage score
8/10 - four fixed antennas and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 make it well suited to multi-room and many multi-storey homes.
Smart home device compatibility
Good for smart home use with dual-band support, Wi-Fi 6 compatibility and Alexa support for connected household devices.
Gaming performance rating
7/10 - fast 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Gigabit LAN ports suit casual to regular gaming, but it lacks the advanced controls of specialist gaming routers.
Easy setup suitability
8/10 - straightforward home router setup with included power adapter, RJ45 cable and quick installation guide.

- Dual-Core CPU: Helps manage multiple connected devices more smoothly during streaming, video calls and general household use.

Q: Is the Archer AX53 a modem router or router only
A: Archer AX53 is a router, not a built-in modem. It connects to an internet service through its single WAN port, and a separate cable or DSL modem is still needed if that is how the service is delivered.
Q: How many wired devices can I plug into this router
A: This router has 4 Gigabit LAN ports for wired devices such as a TV, game console or desktop PC. Those ports are separate from the 1 WAN port used to connect the router to the internet service.
Q: Which Wi-Fi band is better for streaming and older devices
A: The 5 GHz band is the faster option on Archer AX53, rated at 2402 Mbps under 802.11ax with HE160. The 2.4 GHz band runs at 574 Mbps and is the practical choice for devices that need longer-range, lower-bandwidth connections.
Q: Will this help if my ISP modem Wi-Fi is weak
A: Yes, if the issue is limited Wi-Fi performance from an older modem-router. Archer AX53 adds Wi-Fi 6, dual-band networking, 4 fixed antennas and a dual-core CPU, but it cannot improve the speed of the internet plan itself.
Q: Are the antennas removable or can they be upgraded later
A: No. Archer AX53 uses 4 fixed high-performance antennas, so they are not designed to be swapped out or upgraded later. If antenna flexibility matters, this model is better treated as a set-position home router.
Q: Can Alexa control the TP-LINK AX53 router settings
A: Yes. Archer AX53 is compatible with Alexa for supported voice control features. It is still a router-first setup, so tasks that need detailed network changes may still be easier through its standard management settings.
