Great option for sites with no wifi. Picture quality is great, even at night. The battery lasts several weeks even without the solar panel. The app is free and easy to use. It costs a bit extra to have sim cards with data, but it's the only option for truly wifi free security cameras that you can access remotely.

High definition picture along with an app that has lots of customisations including putting alarms on. Great for areas where you can't wifi signals.

The TP-LINK Tapo C615G KIT is a solar-powered outdoor security camera designed for homes, farms, gates, sheds, and other spots where Wi-Fi or mains power is hard to reach. Its strengths are 4G LTE connectivity, wide pan/tilt coverage, colour night vision, and useful AI detection. A key limitation is that it relies on a SIM-based mobile connection, which may add ongoing data costs and depends on local signal quality.
This camera is ideal for flexible outdoor placement, but premium wired systems may offer more consistent bandwidth, lower ongoing connection costs, and more advanced surveillance features for larger fixed installations.
6/10 - Strong app-based monitoring and alerts, but this model is primarily focused on 4G remote security rather than broad smart home ecosystem control.
8/10 - Colour night vision with built-in spotlights gives more useful after-dark detail than basic black-and-white night footage.
8/10 - IP65 weather resistance on both the camera and solar panel makes it well suited to outdoor installation in exposed conditions.
Good for pets and general movement around entry areas, but less specialised for close-range doorstep package monitoring than dedicated doorbell cameras.
8/10 - Solar power and 4G LTE simplify placement by avoiding power cabling and Wi-Fi dependence, though SIM setup and signal checks are still required.
A: No. This is a 4G LTE camera, so it is designed to connect over the mobile network rather than relying on home broadband. That makes it better suited to gates, sheds, farms or worksites where Wi-Fi coverage is weak or unavailable.
A: No. The solar panel is intended to help maintain the battery with regular sunlight, but performance still depends on placement, season and daily activity. Frequent motion events, shade or cloudy weather can mean manual charging is still needed at times.
A: 2K recording gives more image detail than basic 1080p, which can help with recognising faces, clothing or vehicle colour in the frame. It is still affected by distance, lighting and motion, so it does not guarantee readable licence plates in every scene.
A: Yes. Pan and tilt lets one camera cover a wider area than a fixed model, which is useful for open yards, driveways and entry points. It still only records what is within view at that moment, so it is not the same as having multiple cameras watching at once.
A: Yes. A 4G LTE camera typically needs a compatible SIM card with mobile data for live view, alerts and remote access. Ongoing data use varies with video quality, motion frequency and how often footage is viewed in the app.
