Great to keep next to the coffee machine, my daughter also suggested to purchase it.
It is so much easier to use this, instead of having to find another utensil to empty the used coffee grains into.

The Sunbeam Mini Bang Bang is a compact knock box designed for home espresso routines, helping you collect and dispose of used coffee grinds neatly. It suits everyday home baristas who want a simple, easy-to-clean accessory with a quiet knock bar and stable base. Its main limitation is the smaller size, which may need more frequent emptying than larger premium knock boxes.

Things to consider
Its compact 138 x 165 x 165 mm size is great for smaller benches, but it offers less capacity than larger knock boxes suited to heavier coffee-making routines.
Machine compatibility
Best suited to home espresso machines and compact coffee stations; designed to fit under most home grinders or group heads.
Barista suitability
7/10 - well suited to home baristas making a few coffees daily, but smaller than accessories built for high-volume use.
Ease of use
9/10 - simple knock-and-empty design with stable rubber base and lightweight body.
Cleaning convenience
9/10 - two-piece dishwasher-safe construction makes routine cleaning fast and straightforward.
Key benefits
- Compact Footprint: The 138 x 165 x 165 mm size fits neatly under many home grinders or group heads to save bench space.
- Lightweight Body: At 1 kg, it is easy to move, empty and reposition around a busy coffee station.
- Dishwasher-Safe Construction: The two-piece design makes clean-up quick and convenient after daily coffee use.
- Silicone Rubber Bar: Helps absorb sound when knocking out spent coffee grounds for a less harsh bench-top experience.
- Group Handle Protection: The silicone-covered knock bar helps reduce direct impact on your group handle during puck disposal.
- Anti-Slip Rubber Base: Helps keep the knock box steady while in use for more confident puck knocking.
- Two-Piece Design: Separates easily for simpler emptying and washing.
- Neutral Grey Finish: Blends easily with modern kitchen appliances and home coffee gear.
Q: Is the Sunbeam Mini Bang Bang large enough for daily home coffee use?
A: Yes. At 138 x 165 x 165mm, this is a compact knock bin sized for home espresso setups rather than busy cafes. It suits regular daily use in a household, while its smaller footprint is easier to store on a crowded coffee bench.
Q: Will the Sunbeam Mini Bang Bang fit under most home coffee grinders or group heads?
A: It is designed as a compact bench bin and measures 138 x 165 x 165mm. That helps it tuck under many home grinders or group heads, but buyers should compare the 165mm height and width with their own machine clearance before ordering.
Q: Does the knock bar help protect a portafilter when emptying coffee grinds?
A: Yes. The knock bar uses shock-absorbing silicone rubber, which helps protect the group handle when tapping out used coffee grinds. It also softens the impact and reduces the sharper noise you get from knocking against a harder edge.
Q: Is the Sunbeam Mini Bang Bang easy to clean after daily use?
A: Yes. Its two-piece construction is dishwasher safe, so it is easy to separate and clean after a run of coffees. That is useful if damp grounds build up inside, or if the bin sits under the machine for a few days between empties.
Q: Is this a full coffee waste bin or a small benchtop knock box?
A: It is a small benchtop knock box made for used espresso coffee grinds, not a large general-purpose waste bin. The 0.5kg weight and compact body suit home machines, with less capacity than a larger cafe-style knock tube or drawer.
Q: Why choose this plastic knock box over a heavier metal one?
A: The plastic body keeps it light at 0.5kg and easy to move, which suits smaller home coffee stations. The trade-off is that it is aimed at domestic use rather than high-volume cafe knocking, so heavier metal designs usually feel more solid on the bench.
