Great product
The Good Guys Gepps Cross – great deal and great service! I picked up the Sony WH-1000XM6 from The Good Guys Gepps Cross, and salesperson Web S looked after me with a great deal. The headphones offer premium sound, a travel-friendly foldable design and compact magnetic case. The 12-microphone noise-cancelling system does an excellent job of cutting out distracting background noise, while the 10-band EQ lets you fine-tune the sound to your liking. Call quality is clear, and you can even keep listening while charging via USB-C. Big thanks to Web S at The Good Guys Gepps Cross for the great deal and service!

Sony Noise Cancelling headphones
I am on my headphones almost every night and these are the best headphones I've ever owned. The sound is very open and you sometimes forget you are even wearing them. Sound quality is top tier. Very comfortable to wear and the noise cancelling is amazing.

Great for a small head
I find it hard to buy sun glasses, hats and headphones as I have a small head. These headphones are a narrow design so they fit well and don't fall off like my last pair. Love the compact design.

At a glance
The Sony WH-1000XM6 is a premium wireless over-ear headphone for commuters, office users and frequent travellers who want strong noise cancelling and long battery life. Its standout strengths are distraction blocking, comfortable folding design and very fast top-up charging. One limitation is that listeners chasing a more specialist audiophile tuning may prefer dedicated wired or reference-focused alternatives.

Things to consider
It is tuned for convenient premium wireless listening and noise cancelling rather than the more analytical sound some specialist audiophile headphones can offer.
Noise cancelling effectiveness
9/10 - strong active noise cancelling suited to commuting, offices and other busy public spaces.
All-day comfort score
8/10 - over-ear design is well suited to extended listening sessions and travel.
Commuter suitability
9/10 - excellent fit for daily travel thanks to noise cancelling, folding portability and fast charging.
Audiophile vs casual fit
Best for premium everyday listeners rather than specialist audiophile use.
Multi-device flexibility
7/10 - modern Bluetooth 5.3 supports easy wireless use across compatible devices, though advanced multi-device details are not specified.
Key benefits
- Noise Cancelling: Helps reduce surrounding distractions in busy places like offices, stations and cafes.
- Battery Life: Delivers up to 30 hours of wireless playback on a single charge for extended daily use.
- Quick Charge: A 3 minute USB-C charge gives about 3 hours of playback when you need a fast top-up.
- Folding Over-Ear Design: Packs down neatly into a compact hard case for easier travel and storage.
- Wearing Sensor: Automatically pauses playback when the headphones are removed, reducing unnecessary battery use during short breaks.
- Bluetooth 5.3: Supports stable wireless streaming with compatible devices for everyday listening.
- Omni Directional Microphone: Supports clearer voice pickup for calls in varied environments.
- Voice Assistant Support: Lets you access voice assistant features hands-free from compatible devices.
Q: Are these headphones suitable for gym sessions or running outdoors
A: No. Sony WH-1000XM6 are over-ear headphones for travel, office and everyday listening rather than movement-heavy training. They can handle general portable use, but they are not described as sports headphones for running or gym sessions.
Q: Can the WH-1000XM6 connect to a phone and laptop wirelessly
A: Yes. Sony WH-1000XM6 use Bluetooth v5.3 for wireless listening with compatible devices such as a phone or laptop. Simultaneous connection to two devices is not stated here, so treat basic Bluetooth pairing as the confirmed use case.
Q: Does quick charging give enough playback for a flight delay
A: Yes. A 3 minute USB-C charge gives about 3 hours of playback, which is useful if the battery drops before boarding or during a stopover. A full recharge takes 3.5 hours, so quick charge is for top-ups rather than a complete refill.
Q: Do the Sony WH-1000XM6 pause music when you take them off
A: Yes. The built-in wearing sensor pauses playback when the headphones are removed, so music does not keep playing through short interruptions. It helps conserve battery, but it is a convenience feature rather than a substitute for switching them off.
Q: Is the sound tuning neutral enough for studio-style listening
A: No. Sony WH-1000XM6 are tuned for enjoyable everyday listening rather than a strictly neutral, studio-style presentation. They suit music, podcasts and travel well, but buyers chasing analytical wired hi-fi sound may want a more specialised style.
Q: Can you use voice assistant on the WH-1000XM6 hands-free
A: Yes. Sony WH-1000XM6 support voice assistant use through a compatible paired device. That is handy for calls, playback control and simple commands, but the exact assistant features still depend on the phone, app and Bluetooth setup you use.
