A well balanced sound which fills up the whole house
I bought this to play some background music in the lounge while I am either doing household chores or cooking in the kitchen. This has now become the most used item in the house. I like the alarm feature. I am still figuring this out but I wish there was a feature for the duration of the alarm (maybe there is, need to keep exploring). This fits ashetically as well. Its a bit on the expensive side but Sonos definitely delivers on quality, its at par with my bose soundbar.

Fantastic sound and great user interface
Replaced my older speakers with a pair of the Sonos Era 300, and they're fantastic. Clear sound, and the Sonos interface system is super easy to use and connect the speakers. Highly recommend.

It suits households wanting rich room-filling sound, Alexa support, and AirPlay 2 convenience. One limitation is that it is designed for fixed mains-powered use rather than portable listening.

Things to consider
It delivers strong room-based performance, but it is not a portable battery speaker and some wired connection options may require extra accessories depending on your setup.
Multi-room flexibility
Excellent - supports Sonos multi-room playback, stereo pairing, and use as rear surrounds in a compatible Sonos home theatre setup.
Portability rating
2/10 - compact enough to move between rooms, but designed for mains-powered fixed-room use rather than grab-and-go portability.
Music quality score
9/10 - premium, immersive sound with strong room-filling performance and support for spatial audio listening.
Smart home compatibility
8/10 - works with Amazon Alexa, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and the Sonos S2 platform for flexible control.
Outdoor suitability
3/10 - humidity resistance helps in some indoor moisture-prone spaces, but it is not intended as a dedicated outdoor speaker.
Key benefits
- Wi-Fi Streaming: Stream music reliably around the home with access to multi-room playback and app-based control.
- Bluetooth Audio: Play audio directly from phones and tablets without needing the speaker on your Wi-Fi network.
- Spatial Audio Support: Creates a more immersive listening experience that helps music feel broader and more room-filling.
- Stereo Pairing: Pair two compatible speakers for wider left-right separation and a bigger soundstage.
- Multi-Room Sonos Compatibility: Add it to a wider Sonos system to play the same music across rooms or different audio in different spaces.
- Amazon Alexa Built In: Use voice commands for music playback, volume changes, and everyday hands-free control.
- Apple AirPlay 2: Send audio easily from compatible Apple devices for quick in-home streaming.
- Humidity Resistance: Better suited to everyday use in moisture-prone indoor spaces such as kitchens.
Q: Does one Era 300 sound right, or should I buy two
A: Yes, one Era 300 works on its own for room-filling music. Two are the better choice if you want true left-right stereo and a wider presentation, while a single speaker is the simpler fit for casual listening in one mains-powered room.
Q: Can Era 300 connect directly to a TV on its own
A: No. Sonos Era 300 is not set up as a standalone TV speaker with its own HDMI connection. It is better suited as a music speaker or as rear surrounds in a compatible Sonos home theatre system, rather than as the only speaker for a TV.
Q: Does the Sonos Era 300 support Google Assistant control
A: No. Sonos Era 300 supports Amazon Alexa and Apple AirPlay 2, but Google Assistant is not supported on this model. If your setup relies on Google voice control, playback would need to be handled through another supported control method.
Q: Is Era 300 suitable for outdoor use or battery listening
A: No. Sonos Era 300 is designed for mains-powered indoor use, not battery operation or easy outdoor carry. Humidity resistance makes it more practical in places like kitchens, but it is still a fixed-room speaker rather than a portable model.
Q: What wired sources can play through the Era 300
A: Sonos Era 300 can play compatible wired audio sources through its line-in support, and it also offers USB-C and Ethernet connectivity.
Q: Will two Era 300 speakers work as rear surrounds
A: Yes, Sonos Era 300 speakers can be used as rear surrounds in a compatible Sonos home theatre setup. That is different from stereo pairing for music, so this option suits buyers who want the speakers behind the listening position rather than as a left-right pair.
