Efficient and powerful rangehood
This Solt 90cm Box Canopy Rangehood is deceptively powerful. As it’s pulling in air through larger-holed “baffle filters” compared with traditional mesh filters, you cannot feel the “wind” moving with as much velocity when you put your hand up to the filters, however, it is in fact pulling up a much larger volume of air when you feel the air exiting at the other end through the roof. It feels like a leaf blower at the exit point because it’s working that efficiently to suck up huge air volumes. For the first time in 14 years, I no longer have smoke and smells from grilling food or stir frying going into every corner of my house, not even burnt food smells. The baffle filters should be easier to wash when the time comes too. Happy with the performance but one downside is that it’s quite loud, and this is possibly increased when using a vent/flue that’s smaller than the recommended size as it will make the unit work slightly harder to push all that air through a smaller flexi vent so make sure you insist on the installer to use the recommended width exhaust vent. I would compare the level 1 speed loudness to my previous rangehood’s level 2 speed loudness and so on. Another slightly annoying factor is when you turn off the exhaust fan then it also turns off the LED light too but sometimes I want to leave the light on - this is just something I was used to my previous rangehood being able to do (turn the led light off separately). One other thing that I’m not yet used to is the sleek flat screen controls - they are indeed sexy but not being able to feel tactile physical buttons means I cannot turn the led light on when I’m looking for snacks in the middle of the night without turning the entire kitchen light on first so I can see the rangehood switches which defeats the purpose as I only wanted the smaller rangehood light on. Needing to press the same up or down buttons to change the speeds as opposed to having 3 separate speed buttons on my old rangehood is something also to get used to. Overall I’m impressed with the performance of the air extraction as that’s its main job, and the budget friendly pricing makes it really affordable, but those who have issues with the louder volume levels or preferring separate physical speed buttons should look at alternatives.

Our wish was for easy access buttons for light and fan. This is a really neat unit and very effective with extracting steam and cooking smells. Also, really easy to clean the fan covers so that there's no grease build up. Should've updated a long time ago.
