Tried and tried
I was excited when I saw this and tried several ways to use it, honestly it didn't work at all (mosquitoes were nicely celebrating around the device as if it doesn't exist)

HANDY LITTLE ZAPPER
Haven't had the zapper long to really use it properly but it seems to keep the mozzies out of the kitchen. I prob should have brought the larger size... the real test will be over the next couple of months

It suits people who want portable insect control without mains power, with helpful extras like USB recharging, IPX4 water resistance and 1 m impact resistance. Its main limitation is that it is better for immediate personal space than larger outdoor areas.

Best for small outdoor areas such as camp tables, patios, balconies and close seating zones.
Pet & kid safety score
5/10 - portable and water resistant, but the exposed zapping function means it should be positioned carefully away from curious children and pets.
Energy efficiency
7/10 - rechargeable LED-based operation supports portable low-power use, but it is built for short-range coverage rather than high-capacity performance.
Ease of maintenance
8/10 - simple portable design and USB charging keep upkeep straightforward, though the grid still needs occasional careful cleaning.

Key benefits
- Dual band LED UV light: Helps attract flying insects toward the unit for targeted use around your seating or camp area.
- 360 degree electrical grid: Provides insect zapping coverage from all sides so placement is less fussy in small outdoor spaces.
- Micro USB rechargeable battery: Makes it easy to recharge from common power banks, car chargers or USB adapters while travelling.
- Up to 9.5 hours on low lantern mode: Supports extended evening use for camping or outdoor dining before needing a recharge.
- Up to 150 lumens on high: Adds useful close-range light for tasks such as eating at a camp table or moving around a small tent.
- IPX4 water resistance: Better suited to outdoor conditions such as light splashes or damp weather than non-rated indoor devices.
- 1 m impact resistance: Adds durability for camping and travel where drops and knocks can happen.
- Compact lightweight design: Easy to hang or place near people to draw insects away from where you are sitting.
Q: Is this lantern enough for a large backyard or deck?
A: No. Skeeter Hawk Personal Mosquito Zapper Lantern is designed for personal space, camp tables and small seating areas. It works best close to where people are sitting, rather than as whole-yard insect control.
Q: Does the 9.5 hour battery life cover the zapper too?
A: No. The listed 9.5 hours applies on low lantern mode, not as a blanket runtime for every function. Brighter light output or different operating conditions will shorten runtime, so treat it as an evening-use guide rather than an all-mode maximum.
Q: Can I recharge it from a power bank or USB charger?
A: Yes. This model charges by micro USB, so it suits common USB chargers and portable power banks when you are away from mains power. Fast charging and use-while-charging support are not listed for this model.
Q: Will it handle rain at a campsite or patio?
A: Skeeter Hawk Personal Mosquito Zapper Lantern has an IPX4 water resistance rating, so it suits light splashes or drizzle outdoors. It is not described as waterproof, so it should not be left exposed to heavy rain or submerged.
Q: How bright is the lantern for camping or outdoor dining?
A: Skeeter Hawk Personal Mosquito Zapper Lantern reaches 150 lumens on high. That suits close-range jobs like lighting a camp table or small tent, not larger-area lighting across a full patio, deck or backyard.
Q: Can you hang it up or does it need a table?
A: It can be hung or placed on a surface near your seating area. The compact body suits a camp hook, table or patio setting, but it still works best nearby rather than well away from the people you want to draw insects away from.
