Shokz OpenFit Air Earbuds
Great for all-day listening I’ve been very happy with the Shokz OpenFit Air. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods, and I really like the open-ear design because I can still hear what’s happening around me while listening to music or taking calls. The sound quality is clear and enjoyable, especially for everyday listening. They also stay securely in place when walking around. Battery life has been good for my daily use, and the charging case is convenient. Overall, a very comfortable pair of earbuds for everyday use, especially if you don’t want to completely block out the surrounding environment. Happy with the purchase.

Great headphones.
I love these Bluetooth headphones. They sound great. I got them because I wanted portable, small,, and with good quality sound, but I wanted to avoid earbud style headphones because I do t like the feeling of the em sticking into my ear. These wrap around so comfortably and securely. Awesome.

Fantastic earphones that don't stick in your ears!
I think the Shokz OpenFit Air Earbuds are fantastic for exercise. The only negative I find is how easy it is to switch them when you don't intend to do so.

Awesome features
Very nice sound. Very impressed with this open ear techmology. However i had jbl endurance peak 3 before they use to turn off out of the box as soon as you take them off. But not these ones you have to place them in the pod to turn them off otherwise they stay connected.

At a glance
The Shokz OpenFit Air is a lightweight open-ear earbud set built for people who want music and calls without blocking out the world around them. It suits commuters, gym users and office listeners who dislike in-ear pressure. Key strengths are comfort, stable fit and long battery life with the case. The main limitation is weaker noise isolation and bass immersion than sealed in-ear earbuds.

- Outdoor Walker
- Listener With Sensitive Ears
- Everyday User
Things to consider
Because of the open-ear design, it lets in more outside noise than sealed in-ear earbuds, so it is less ideal for noisy flights, trains or listeners wanting stronger bass isolation.
Commuter suitability score
8/10 - Strong for situational awareness and comfort on the move, but open-ear listening is less ideal in very noisy transport.
Workout fit
Secure earhook-style fit suited to gym sessions, runs and general active use.
Noise isolation effectiveness
3/10 - Open-ear construction prioritises awareness over blocking external sound.
All-day comfort rating
9/10 - Very light 8.7 g earbuds and pressure-free open-ear wear make them easy to keep on for long sessions.
Multi-device switching ease
6/10 - Bluetooth 5.2 supports reliable pairing, but easy switching features are not clearly specified.
Key benefits
- Open-ear design: Lets you stay aware of traffic, announcements and conversations while listening.
- Lightweight build: Each earbud weighs 8.7 g for reduced ear fatigue during extended wear.
- Air-Earhook fit: Helps keep the earbuds secure and comfortable during movement and workouts.
- Battery life: Delivers up to 28 hours of total playback with the charging case for fewer top-ups.
- Fast charging: A 10-minute charge provides up to 2 hours of playback when you need a quick boost.
- Four microphones: Supports clearer voice pickup for calls in everyday work and travel use.
- IP54 dust and sweat resistance: Better suited to gym sessions and outdoor exercise than non-rated earbuds.
- Bluetooth 5.2: Provides reliable wireless pairing with compatible devices for daily listening and calls.
Q: How does the open-ear design of the Shokz OpenFit Air affect everyday listening?
A: It lets you hear music while still noticing traffic, voices and announcements around you, which suits commuting, walking and office use. The trade-off is less noise isolation than sealed in-ear earbuds, especially in loud places.
Q: Are the Shokz OpenFit Air a good choice for long calls or online meetings?
A: Yes. The open-ear fit can feel more comfortable over long stretches because nothing sits deep in the ear canal, and the earbuds include a microphone for calls. In very noisy spaces, outside sound can still compete with what you hear.
Q: What battery life can buyers realistically expect from the Shokz OpenFit Air?
A: Shokz rates the OpenFit Air for up to 28 hours of playback when using the charging case. In normal day-to-day listening, a single charge is typically enough for commutes, calls and workouts, rather than all-day continuous use without the case.
Q: Are the Shokz OpenFit Air secure enough for running and workouts?
A: They are designed with a Shokz Air-Earhook for a steadier fit, so they can suit gym sessions, walks and lighter runs. For hard interval training or very vigorous running, some buyers may prefer a tighter sports-focused fit.
Q: How does the sound of the Shokz OpenFit Air compare with regular in-ear earbuds?
A: OpenFit Air is built to balance comfort, awareness and sound rather than create a sealed, isolated listening experience. Its custom driver and composite diaphragm help with balanced audio, but bass weight and noise blocking are usually lower than in-ear buds.
Q: Are the Shokz OpenFit Air better for sensitive ears than standard in-ear earbuds?
A: Yes. Because they sit outside the ear canal, they avoid the plugged-in feeling that some people find uncomfortable during long listening sessions. The compromise is that more outside sound remains audible, so they are less immersive in noisy settings.
