At a glance
This 90cm silent undermount rangehood is a premium built-in ventilation option for households wanting strong extraction with less noise at the cooktop. Its inline motor, 1600 m3/hr airflow, 5 speeds and remote control make it ideal for open-plan kitchens and frequent cooking. The main limitation is that installation is more involved than a standard all-in-one rangehood due to the separate motor setup.

Things to consider
The separate inline motor can deliver a quieter cooking-zone experience, but installation is typically more complex than a standard undermount rangehood with an integrated motor.
Open plan kitchen suitability
9/10 - strong 1600 m3/hr extraction and an inline motor make it well suited to open-plan spaces where noise and odour control matter.
Noise level vs category
9/10 - quieter at the cooktop than typical integrated-motor undermount rangehoods because the motor is mounted remotely.
Renovation compatibility
Best for cabinetry-based renovations or new kitchen builds with provision for an inline motor and ducting.
Cooking frequency fit
9/10 - well suited to frequent cooking thanks to high airflow, multiple speed settings and post-cooking auto shut-off.
Key benefits
- 1600 m3/hr airflow: High extraction capacity helps clear smoke, steam and cooking odours quickly during demanding cooking sessions.
- Inline motor design: Relocating the motor away from the canopy helps reduce noise where you cook.
- Undermount installation: Fits inside overhead cabinetry for a streamlined, integrated kitchen look.
- 5 fan speeds: Lets you adjust extraction to suit anything from light simmering to heavy frying.
- Touch and remote controls: Gives flexible operation whether you are at the cooktop or elsewhere in the kitchen.
- 2 LED lights: Illuminates the cooktop clearly for better visibility while preparing meals.
- Stainless steel mesh filters: Captures grease and can be removed for straightforward cleaning.
- 10-minute auto shut-off: Continues clearing residual odours after cooking without needing to switch it off manually.
Q: Does this rangehood need ducting to work properly
A: Yes. This Schweigen model is designed for ducted use with an inline motor mounted away from the canopy. It suits kitchens that can accommodate motor placement and ducting, rather than a simple recirculating installation.
Q: Why is the Schweigen SXQU330-9SINL supplied in two boxes
A: The SXQU330-9SINL comes in two boxes because the undermount canopy and inline motor are separate parts. That split helps move motor noise away from the cooktop, but it also makes installation more involved than a single-box unit.
Q: Can the inline motor be installed away from the canopy
A: Yes. The inline motor is mounted remotely rather than inside the canopy, which helps keep noise lower at the cooktop. Buyers should allow for both the concealed canopy in cabinetry and a separate motor position connected by ducting.
Q: Is 1600 m3/h enough for frequent wok cooking at home
A: Yes. SXQU330-9SINL has 1600 m3/h airflow, which suits regular high-smoke cooking such as searing, stir-frying and grilling. Actual capture still depends on good ducting and matching the fan speed to how heavily you cook.
Q: Will the undermount canopy be visible in a finished kitchen
A: Only partly. This undermount design is built to sit inside overhead cabinetry, so it gives a more integrated look than an exposed canopy. Some of the underside remains accessible for controls, filters and cooktop lighting.
Q: What does the 10-minute auto shut-off actually do
A: It keeps the rangehood running for 10 minutes after cooking, then switches off automatically. That is useful when steam or food odours linger after the burners are off, but it is still a timed shut-off rather than a sensor-driven mode.
