Happy with purchase
Great heater in a medium sized space. Takes the chill off the room quickly. I'd give it 5 stars if the hose was a bit longer.

Ideal for a mid size living room
Instant heat as it extinguishes the chill temperature in the living room. Good for mid sized living room For a big living room you will need the higher end models of the same brand Overall it does the job and I am satisfied with the purchase and would recommend this for mid size living rooms

Bought this one, the same model as my previous heater which lasted me for 15 years!. This time I chose the silver colour instead of white. Will be more than happy if this one lasts 15 years as well.

At a glance
The Rinnai Enduro 13MJ NG Unflued Convector Heater is a portable natural gas heater suited to medium to large living spaces that need fast, adjustable warmth. It stands out for its compact design, thermostatic control, child lock and timers. A key limitation is that, as an unflued model, it is better suited to appropriate open living areas rather than every room type.
What it’s great for
- Fast room heating
- Everyday winter comfort
- Open-plan living areas
- Main lounge heating
Where it works best
- Open-plan living room
- Main lounge

Things to consider
This unflued heater is a practical choice for fast spot heating, but it is less specialised than premium whole-home or flued heating solutions for broader installation flexibility.
Room size suitability
Medium to large living areas
Energy efficiency score
8/10 - backed by a 5.8 star energy rating, giving it strong efficiency credentials for a portable gas heater
Family safety rating
7/10 - child lock and timer functions support family use, though households still need to follow servicing requirements
Portability rating
8/10 - compact portable design makes it practical to move between suitable rooms
Noise level vs category
7/10 - expected to be unobtrusive in line with typical convector heater operation, though not positioned as a specialist ultra-quiet model
Key benefits
- 13MJ natural gas heating: Delivers strong heat output for medium to larger living areas that need quick warm-up.
- Portable design: Easier to move between suitable rooms as heating needs change through the day.
- Variable heating settings: Lets you adjust warmth levels for changing comfort needs.
- Fully thermostatic control: Helps maintain a steadier room temperature with less manual adjustment.
- 3300W power: Provides solid heating performance for everyday use in larger common areas.
- 5.8 star energy rating: Offers comparatively strong energy performance for this heater type with a 5.8 star rating.
- Child safety lock: Adds extra peace of mind in households with children.
- Delay on/off timers: Makes it easier to schedule heating around daily routines.
Q: What does unflued mean on the Rinnai Enduro 13MJ heater?
A: Unflued means this heater releases warmth directly into the room instead of venting through a flue. It needs fresh-air ventilation while operating, so it suits larger, well-ventilated living areas rather than small sealed rooms or bedrooms.
Q: Is the Rinnai Enduro 13MJ suitable for bottled LPG gas?
A: No. This model is a natural gas heater, so it is designed to run from a home natural gas supply, not LPG bottles. Buyers need a compatible indoor natural gas bayonet connection, which is a key difference from LPG portable heaters.
Q: How much gas does the Rinnai Enduro 13MJ typically use to run?
A: At full output, a 13MJ heater uses about 13 megajoules of gas per hour. Using a typical natural gas tariff, that is roughly 40 to 70 cents per hour, although actual running cost depends on local rates and how high the heat is set.
Q: What size room is the Rinnai Enduro 13MJ best suited to?
A: A 13MJ gas convector is generally best for medium to larger living areas rather than compact rooms. In practical use, it is better matched to open-plan or main lounge spaces, especially where quick warm-up is more important than whole-home heating.
Q: How does the Enduro 13MJ compare with a higher-output portable gas heater?
A: The Enduro 13MJ is the better fit if a room does not need the stronger heat of a larger model. A higher-output unit can warm bigger spaces faster, but it also uses more gas, so the 13MJ is the more balanced choice for moderate-sized areas.
