Would have given it a 5 if it was wireless
It is a great camera with good features. Only one minus point is that its wired. In todays day and age where everything is getting wireless with the use of good batteries, this wired device already feels old technology. If its battery operated, this will be 5 stars.

Awesome video quality
This Ring camera has awesome quality, absolutely blew my mind. I have a different system and the quality is OK but this Ring cam is amazing. Even night time is so clear and easily able to make out what you are looking at. The light is super bright as well, light up my whole front yard, which isn't huge. I do like that you can communicate with your voice, that's pretty neat. If my wife is outside I can talk with her. It picks up motion great too, any small movement the cam senses it. On to installation, it was a pretty easy process. Did require a electrician to set up. Overall, this is a great camera.

A product that actually WORKS!
I was given the Ring Floodlight Camera Wired Plus to try and review. Overall it is a very good product! The setup was really easy and straightforward using the Ring app on my phone after it was installed by a licensed electrician. The video quality is outstanding be it in daytime or nighttime. Also, I can see whats happening in our front yard wherever I am thanks to the Ring app and it works well with the product no glitch so far! The floodlights are really bright and can be turn on and off using the app as well. Compact and looks great in our front area. Definitely worth it and highly recommended!

At a glance
The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is a permanently installed outdoor security camera for homes that want strong visibility around driveways, front yards or side paths. It combines 1080p HD video, bright motion-activated floodlights, night vision and two-way talk in one unit. It is a solid mid-range choice for continuous-power locations, but it does require hardwired installation rather than simple plug-in setup.

Things to consider
This model is best for homes with an existing outdoor light fitting and continuous power, so it is less flexible than battery or plug-in cameras for renters or quick DIY installs.
Smart home integration score
9/10 - Strong fit for Alexa households with voice control and smart home routine support.
Night vision performance
8/10 - Reliable night monitoring, supported by built-in floodlights for added visibility when motion occurs.
Outdoor weather suitability
Well suited to outdoor installation in exposed home entry and perimeter areas where a hardwired light fitting is available.
Pet & package monitoring fit
Good for general outdoor movement awareness near entrances and paths, though it is better for wider-area security than close-up parcel monitoring.
Installation ease
6/10 - Straightforward if replacing an existing outdoor light, but harder than battery or plug-in cameras because it requires hardwired installation.
Key benefits
- 1080p HD Video: Captures clear everyday footage for checking visitors, vehicles and activity around key outdoor areas.
- Motion-Activated Floodlights: Bright built-in lights help illuminate movement outside and add a visible deterrent after dark.
- Night Vision: Helps you monitor outdoor spaces more clearly in low-light conditions and overnight.
- Two-Way Talk: Lets you speak with visitors or respond to unexpected activity from your phone, tablet or PC.
- Hardwired Power: Provides continuous power for permanent outdoor monitoring without recharging batteries.
- Motion Alerts: Sends instant notifications when movement is detected so you can check activity quickly.
- Alexa Integration: Works well in Alexa-based smart homes for voice control and simple automation routines.
- Outdoor Floodlight Form Factor: Replaces an existing light fitting, making it practical for covering larger open areas near the home.
Q: Does this Ring floodlight camera need existing wiring to work?
A: Yes. Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is a hardwired camera designed for continuous power, so it suits locations with an existing outdoor light connection. It is not a battery model, which limits where it can be mounted.
Q: Will Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus work without a paid subscription?
A: Yes, but with limits. Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus can still provide live viewing, motion alerts and two-way talk, while some app features rely on a paid Ring subscription. It is a better fit if ongoing video history matters to you.
Q: Is this model a good choice for renters or temporary installs?
A: No. This model is better suited to permanent installation because it needs hardwiring and is less flexible than battery or plug-in cameras. It makes more sense for homeowners than renters who may need to remove or relocate a camera later.
Q: Does Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus work with Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit?
A: No. Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is positioned for Alexa households and smart home routines through Amazon Alexa. It is not a strong fit if Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit support is important in your existing setup.
Q: Can it replace an outdoor light fitting above a garage?
A: Yes, in many homes. Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is made to replace an existing outdoor light fitting, which makes it practical above a garage, driveway or side path. Placement still needs a position that gives the camera a clear view.
Q: How does night recording work when the floodlights stay off?
A: Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus has night vision, so it can still capture after-dark video even when the lights are off. The floodlights add extra visibility when motion is detected, but they are not the only way the camera sees at night.
