A fantastic camera. Easy to set up, full of features to customise to your preferences and no subscription required to receive email or push notifications. The thing I like most is that the chime rings inside without the visitor having to push the button and I get notified on my mobile if I am in the back yard or away so I never miss anything. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that I can't read car licence plates in my driveway but it is 20 metres away and for the price I can't complain.

The Reolink 2K Wired PoE Video Doorbell with Chime is a solid choice for homeowners who want reliable, hardwired front-door security without monthly fees. Its strengths are stable Power over Ethernet installation, smart person detection, local storage, and weather-resistant design. It is best for permanent home setups rather than renters, and it is less flexible to install than battery-powered alternatives.
This model needs a wired PoE installation, so it is less convenient for renters or anyone wanting a quick battery-powered setup.
7/10 - strong for wired networked security setups, but PoE installation makes it less universally simple than plug-and-play wireless doorbells.
Low - best suited to permanent installations where PoE cabling can be run.
8/10 - well suited to package checks, especially the white version with a head-to-toe view that helps show parcels near the doorstep.
8/10 - clear after-dark visibility for entry monitoring, with strong detail for a mid-range wired doorbell.
A: Yes. This model supports local recording to a microSD card with capacities up to 256GB, and it can also record to a compatible Reolink NVR. That makes it a good fit for buyers who want ongoing storage without paying recurring cloud fees.
A: No. The listed storage compatibility is with Reolink NVRs, so it is best matched to the Reolink ecosystem rather than assumed universal NVR support. If NVR recording is important, confirm the exact Reolink recorder model before purchase.
A: Yes. PoE gives the doorbell both power and network through one Ethernet cable, which is typically more stable than battery and Wi-Fi setups for constant recording and fast alerts. It does require suitable cabling at the door location. Discuss with your electrician.
A: It captures a short lead-in before the main event, so footage can include the moments just before someone reaches the button or walks into frame. On this model, Reolink states 6 seconds of pre-recording, which helps avoid clipped starts in alerts.
A: Yes. The 5MP 2K+ resolution is designed to show more facial and package detail than basic 1080p doorbells at typical front-door distance. It is suited to identifying visitors near the door, but not for reliably reading number plates far down a driveway.
