The Nordic 1200W Outdoor Radiant Heater is a reliable electric heater built for outdoor Australian conditions. It delivers focused radiant heat, making it perfect for patios, balconies, and alfresco dining. Its compact design suits small to medium spaces and is easy to move. While energy efficient for its class, it may not provide enough warmth for very large or fully open areas.
Heating coverage is limited compared to higher-wattage or gas-powered outdoor heaters; best suited for smaller, semi-enclosed spaces.
Ideal for small to medium outdoor areas up to 10m²
7/10 - Efficient for its wattage and radiant heating method
9/10 - Operates silently, quieter than most fan-forced heaters
8/10 - Includes overheat protection and safe surface design
7/10 - Lightweight and easy to move, though requires mains power access
A: A 1200W radiant heater is typically best for spot heating in a small outdoor zone, such as a balcony, compact courtyard, or a 2 to 4 person seating area. It is not the right choice if the goal is to warm a large open patio evenly.
A: It uses 1200 watts, which is 1.2 kilowatt hours for each hour it runs at full power. To estimate running cost, multiply 1.2kWh by your electricity tariff. At 30 cents per kWh, that is about 36 cents per hour.
A: It warms people and nearby surfaces more than the surrounding air, because radiant heaters project heat outward rather than circulating warm air. That makes it better for seated outdoor use than trying to lift the temperature of an open space.
A: Yes, but mainly for direct line of sight warmth. Radiant heat is usually less affected by breeze than fan-forced warm air, but strong wind and very open areas still reduce comfort, so this size is better in sheltered outdoor spots.
A: It is better for spot heating. A 1200W radiant unit is designed to make one seating zone more comfortable rather than heat an entire entertaining area, so larger patios often need multiple heaters or a higher output option.
