Fantastic Machine
We purchased this machine for our new campervan as i wanted something small that would give us great coffee. We have never had a machine with this type of pod before, however i am so glad we purchased this one. The coffee tatses amazing, and the different flavours you can get from nespresso, just fantastic. I would definently reccomend this machine

At a glance
The Nespresso Vertuo Next with Aeroccino is a compact capsule coffee machine for people who want quick, café-style black and milk coffees at home. Its strengths are one-touch brewing, five cup sizes, fast 25 second heat-up and easy milk frothing. A fair limitation is that it is designed around Vertuo capsules, so it offers less pod flexibility than some broader capsule systems.

Things to consider
This machine is best for convenience rather than deep manual control, and it is built for Vertuo capsules rather than offering wide capsule compatibility.
Quick coffee suitability
9/10 - one-touch operation and a 25 second heat-up make it well suited to fast daily coffee.
Variety of capsule compatibility
Limited to Nespresso Vertuo capsules
Ease of use score
9/10 - simple capsule system, push-button brewing and automatic capsule recognition keep daily use straightforward.
Cleaning convenience
8/10 - capsule brewing reduces mess, though the milk frother and regular maintenance still add some cleaning tasks.
Compact kitchen fit
8/10 - slim width helps it fit smaller benches, though the depth means it still needs some counter space.
Key benefits
- CENTRIFUSION brewing: Delivers a smooth, rich cup with automated extraction designed to match each capsule.
- Five cup sizes: Gives you flexible brewing options from espresso to a full mug to suit different coffee habits.
- Aeroccino milk frother: Makes it easy to add creamy milk froth for cappuccinos and other milk-based drinks at home.
- 25 second heat-up: Gets the machine ready quickly so you can make coffee with less waiting.
- 1.1 L water tank: Helps reduce refill frequency for regular daily use.
- Capsule recognition: Automatically adjusts brewing parameters to suit the inserted capsule.
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity: Allows software updates so the machine can stay current over time.
- Auto-off and energy-saving modes: Supports lower power use when idle through automatic shutdown and standby functions.
Q: Does the Nespresso Vertuo Next BNV550GRY4JAN1 use standard Nespresso pods?
A: No. This model uses Nespresso Vertuo capsules, not Original line pods. Its capsule recognition system reads the Vertuo capsule and adjusts the brew automatically, so pod choice is tied to the Vertuo system rather than mixed-format use.
Q: Can this Vertuo Next make cappuccino or latte style coffees as well as black coffee?
A: Yes. The included Aeroccino3 froths milk separately, so you can combine it with espresso or coffee for cappuccino and latte style drinks at home. It does not have a built-in steam wand, so milk texturing is separate from the brew cycle.
Q: What do the Bluetooth and WiFi features actually do on this coffee machine?
A: They are mainly there for machine updates and connected functionality, not for hands-free remote brewing. You still make coffee using the machine itself, so the wireless features are more about keeping the system current than daily control.
Q: Is the Nespresso Vertuo Next compact enough for a smaller kitchen bench?
A: Yes. The machine is only 142 mm wide, so it suits narrower bench spaces, but it is 429 mm deep and 314 mm high. That makes it slim from side to side, though you still need enough depth behind the front edge for comfortable placement.
Q: Does the one-button operation choose the right cup size automatically?
A: Yes. This Vertuo Next reads the capsule and sets the extraction to suit that coffee style automatically. It supports five sizes, from 40 ml espresso to 414 ml Alto, but the available result depends on using a Vertuo capsule made for that size.
