At a glance
This keyboard and Slim Pen bundle is built for Surface Pro 12-inch 1st Edition users who want typing and handwriting in one compact accessory. Its magnetic attachment, slim 4.89 mm profile and light 0.294 kg weight make it well suited to travel and flexible work. A key limitation is that it is designed specifically for the matching Surface Pro model rather than broad device compatibility.

Key benefits
- Magnetic attachment: Connects directly to the Surface Pro 12-inch 1st Edition for a clean, integrated setup.
- Slim Pen included: Gives you a ready-to-use inking tool for handwriting, sketching and annotations.
- Pen storage within keyboard: Helps keep the Slim Pen secure and easy to access between tasks.
- Detachable design: Lets you switch between keyboard use and tablet mode to suit different work styles.
- No Bluetooth pairing required: Uses the tablet's built-in connector for simple setup without separate wireless pairing.
- No separate battery required: Draws connection through the device, so there is no extra keyboard battery to manage.
- 4.89 mm thin profile: Adds minimal thickness to support easy carrying in bags or slim sleeves.
- 0.294 kg weight: Keeps the overall setup light for commuting, campus use and travel.
Q: Will this keyboard work with older Surface Pro models or laptops
A: No. This keyboard is designed for Surface Pro 12-inch 1st Edition and is not documented for other Surface devices, laptops or tablets. If you need one keyboard across multiple devices, this is not the right fit.
Q: Does it need Bluetooth pairing or a separate charging cable
A: No. It connects through the tablet's built-in connector, so there is no Bluetooth pairing step and no separate keyboard battery to charge. It needs to be attached to the compatible Surface Pro to type or navigate.
Q: What happens if you detach the keyboard from the tablet
A: When detached, the keyboard is no longer connected to the tablet because it uses the Surface connector rather than Bluetooth. That means typing and navigation stop until it is reattached, while tablet mode remains available for handwriting or sketching.
Q: Can the Slim Pen stay stored in the keyboard when packed
A: Yes. The Slim Pen is included and secured within the keyboard, so it has a dedicated place when the keyboard is attached or packed away. That suits travel and hot-desking better than carrying the pen separately.
Q: How much bulk does this add to a Surface Pro setup
A: This accessory adds 4.89mm of thickness and weighs 294g, so it is aimed at portable use rather than a fixed desk setup. It keeps the package slim, but it still adds some weight compared with using the tablet on its own.
