At a glance
The Loewe KLANG S1 is a premium-style smart clock radio for bedrooms or living areas, combining internet radio, local radio, Bluetooth streaming and Spotify integration in a compact design. It suits users who want better-than-basic sound and easy day-to-night viewing from a dimmable display. A limitation is that it does not include battery backup for use during power outages.

Things to consider
It offers strong sound and smart listening features, but it is less suited to blackout resilience or portable use because no battery backup is listed.
Bedroom suitability
Very good - dimmable display, compact format and versatile listening options suit bedside use well.
Ease of use score
8/10 - straightforward everyday use with on-unit controls, app-based display adjustment and familiar wireless streaming.
Alarm customisation
Basic - clock radio format is suitable for bedside use, but alarm setting options are not specified.
Backup power rating
1/10 - no battery backup is listed, so operation during mains power loss appears limited.
Key benefits
- Bluetooth 4.2: Stream music wirelessly from compatible phones, tablets and other devices without extra cables.
- Internet and Local Radio Access: Gives you access to both broadcast stations and a wider range of online radio content.
- Spotify Integrated: Lets you enjoy Spotify music directly through the unit for convenient everyday listening.
- Dimmable 3.2 inch Display: Makes the screen easier to view in daytime and less disruptive at night.
- On-Unit or App Display Control: Allows quick brightness adjustment whether you are beside the unit or controlling it remotely.
- 2 x 20 W Total Output: Delivers fuller, room-filling sound than many basic bedside clock radios.
- Bass Reflex Speaker Setup: Helps produce a richer, more rounded sound for music, talk radio and podcasts.
- 67-20000 Hz Frequency Response: Supports detailed audio across bass, vocals and treble for more balanced listening.
Q: Does the Loewe KLANG S1 work without a phone nearby
A: Yes. Loewe KLANG S1 can play local radio, internet radio and integrated Spotify without relying on Bluetooth from a phone. A compatible phone or tablet is still useful if you want Bluetooth streaming or app-based display control.
Q: Is the KLANG S1 portable or battery powered
A: No. Loewe KLANG S1 does not include a battery, so it is designed to stay connected to mains power. It suits a bedside table or shelf better than moving around the home, and it will not keep playing during a blackout.
Q: How powerful is the sound for a bedroom radio
A: Loewe KLANG S1 uses a 2x 20W bass reflex speaker setup, which gives it fuller sound than a basic bedside clock radio. It suits bedrooms and casual living spaces, but it is still a compact all-in-one unit rather than a full stereo system.
Q: Will the alarm still work if power goes out
A: No. Loewe KLANG S1 has no battery backup, so clock and alarm use depend on mains power. If a blackout matters for wake-up reliability, this model is better suited to homes with stable power than as a fail-safe bedside alarm.
Q: Is Spotify built in or just through Bluetooth
A: Spotify is integrated, so the Loewe KLANG S1 is designed to access that service directly, not only by Bluetooth streaming from another device. Bluetooth remains useful for playing other audio from a compatible phone or tablet.
