For the amount ı paid could be alot more better. The seal needed changing on the doors immediately after the box was opened. Only a few weeks old. Let's.see what time will bring. Besides that the overall size and capacity is a must have. In that sense I totally recommend it. It makes 6 pieces of round party size ice balls... but in a 24 hour period. Also the ice doesnt taste nice weather crushed cubed or in balls... overall compared to Samsung with absolutely no Australia based customer care or any one you can directly contact i decided to go with lg and purchase only from the good guys with extra warranty. Seems to be the safest option available.

At a glance
This 847L French door fridge is built for large families, shared homes, or frequent entertainers who need serious food and freezer capacity. Standout features include InstaView, Door-in-Door access, dual ice makers, plumbed water, and ThinQ smart control. It is especially strong for convenience and bulk storage. The main trade-off is that its very large size will not suit smaller kitchens.
What it’s great for
- Large Family Food Storage
- Bulk Grocery Shopping
- Entertaining At Home
- High-Traffic Kitchens
- Convenient Ice And Water Access
Where it works best
- Large Family Kitchen
- Open-Plan Home
- Shared Household
- Entertaining Space
Who it’s for
- Large Family
- Shared Household
- Frequent Entertainer
- Bulk Shopper
Things to consider
Its 847L size is excellent for capacity, but it needs a generously sized kitchen and may be more fridge than smaller households need.
Family suitability score
10/10 - Excellent capacity and convenience features for families of five or more.
Entertaining suitability
10/10 - Dual ice makers, plumbed water, and very large storage make it highly capable for hosting.
Fresh food storage performance
9/10 - The 473L fridge section and air filtration system support strong day-to-day fresh food storage.
Energy efficiency vs category
6/10 - A 3.5 star energy rating is reasonable for a very large French door fridge, but not a standout for efficiency.
Kitchen space fit
Best for large kitchens with enough room for a full-size French door layout and plumbed water connection.
Key benefits
- 847l total capacity: Gives large households extensive room for weekly shops, platters, frozen goods, and drinks.
- 473l fridge capacity: Provides substantial fresh food space for produce, dairy, leftovers, and everyday essentials.
- 361l freezer capacity: Offers strong frozen-food storage for bulk buying, meal prep, and entertaining supplies.
- Door-in-door design: Lets you access commonly used drinks and snacks quickly without opening the main compartment.
- Instaview panel: A double knock lights the interior so you can check contents without opening the door.
- Dual ice makers: Produces cubed, crushed, and craft ice to suit everyday drinks and entertaining.
- Plumbed ice and water dispenser: Delivers chilled water and ready ice conveniently for daily use.
- Pure-n-fresh air filtration: Circulates air to help reduce food odours inside the fridge.
Q: Does this fridge need plumbing for the ice and water dispenser?
A: Yes. LG GF-V900MBLC has a plumbed ice and water dispenser, so it needs a mains water connection for those features to work. That matters before purchase, because this is not a refillable internal water tank design.
Q: Will the LG 847L fridge suit a smaller kitchen layout?
A: No. LG GF-V900MBLC is an extra-large French door fridge designed for larger kitchens with enough clearance for its wide doors and deep cabinet. It suits family homes and entertaining spaces better than compact layouts or apartments.
Q: Can you use the fridge normally without the ThinQ app?
A: Yes. LG ThinQ adds remote monitoring and control from a phone, but the fridge’s core cooling, freezer, ice and water functions are built into the appliance itself. The app is useful for convenience, not a requirement for everyday operation.
Q: How much freezer space does this French door fridge have?
A: LG GF-V900MBLC has 361L of freezer space. That is a large freezer allocation for a French door design, so it suits bulk frozen food, meal prep and shared households, rather than buyers who mostly need fresh-food storage only.
Q: What is the Door-in-Door section actually useful for day to day?
A: The Door-in-Door compartment is best for items used often, such as drinks, milk and snacks. It gives quicker access than opening the full fridge, but it does not replace the main cavity for larger platters, tall containers or weekly grocery storage.
Q: Does the InstaView panel replace opening the fridge door?
A: No. The InstaView panel helps you check what is inside with a double knock before opening the door, but it does not replace normal access. It is most useful for quick visibility, not for reaching items or reorganising shelves.
Q: Which type of household is this 847L fridge best for?
A: LG GF-V900MBLC is best suited to larger households, shared homes and frequent entertainers. Its 847L capacity is geared to bulk grocery loads and high daily use, so it can feel oversized if shopping volumes and kitchen space are both modest.
