Great Soundbar
Really happy with this soundbar. I now hear background sounds that I’ve never really heard before. Sound is really clear & is great for watching normal tv as well as movies. Love that you can set it to come on & off automatically with the tv.

Really love this soundbar
Bought this soundbar to pair with my LG B5 OLED TV that I bought only a week or two earlier from TGG because my Samsung home theatre system finally gave way. Already really impressed with the LG TV but this soundbar was the cherry on top. I did have concerns due to some of the reviews but once I received it and set it up properly, it's really enhanced my gaming and movie experiences with this soundbar that has the perfect balance of bass and treble. Purchased via The Good Guys because it's hard to beat their deals. This soundbar has been good value for me and no more all the wires everywhere from the old home theatre system making it look so cleaner.

At a glance
The LG S40T is a straightforward 2.1 channel soundbar with a wireless subwoofer, built for clearer TV sound and stronger bass in small to medium living rooms. It suits households wanting an easy step up from built-in TV speakers, with Bluetooth music streaming and simple sound modes. Its main limitation is that it is not as spacious or enveloping as larger premium surround-focused soundbars.

Things to consider
This 2.1 channel model improves clarity and bass well, but it will not deliver the same room-filling surround effect, advanced connectivity or wider soundstage as premium multi-channel soundbars.
Tv compatibility score
8/10 - HDMI Out and LG WOW Interface support make it a practical match for many TV setups, especially compatible LG TVs.
Movie night suitability
8/10 - Dedicated subwoofer and support for Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround give movies more impact than standard TV speakers.
Music playback quality
7/10 - Bluetooth streaming and the subwoofer make casual music listening enjoyable, though it is tuned more for all-round entertainment than hi-fi detail.
Room size suitability
Best for small to medium living rooms
Installation ease
Easy - simple wireless subwoofer setup and straightforward remote-based control suit users wanting a quick TV audio upgrade.
Key benefits
- 300W Total Output: Delivers a noticeable lift in volume and impact over most built-in TV speakers for everyday viewing.
- 2.1 Channel Audio: Separates left and right sound while adding dedicated bass for clearer dialogue and fuller entertainment audio.
- Wireless Subwoofer: Adds stronger low-end presence for movies, music and games without needing a cable run back to the soundbar.
- Bluetooth Streaming: Lets you play music wirelessly from compatible phones and tablets for simple everyday listening.
- Dolby Digital, AAC and DTS Digital Surround Support: Helps the soundbar work well with common TV and video audio formats for a more cinematic experience.
- AI Sound Pro: Automatically adjusts sound character to better suit different types of content without constant manual changes.
- Dedicated Sound Modes: Cinema, Standard and Game modes make it easier to tailor sound for movies, everyday viewing or gaming.
- WOW Interface: Allows compatible LG TV users to check and manage soundbar settings more conveniently through the TV interface.
Q: Does the LG S40T support Dolby Atmos audio formats?
A: No. LG S40T supports Dolby Digital, AAC and DTS Digital Surround, but not Dolby Atmos. It suits buyers who want a clear 2.1-channel upgrade for TV and movies, rather than height effects or more advanced surround processing.
Q: Can this soundbar replace a full surround sound system?
A: No. This is a 2.1-channel soundbar, so it gives left and right audio plus a dedicated subwoofer for bass, not rear speakers or height channels. It is a simpler setup aimed at clearer TV sound and stronger low end in everyday rooms.
Q: Will it still work properly with non LG TVs?
A: Yes. This soundbar can play TV audio through its supported wired connection options and can also stream music over Bluetooth. The main LG-only extra is the WOW Interface feature, which lets compatible LG TVs show and manage soundbar settings.
Q: Can I stream music from my phone without the TV?
A: Yes. Bluetooth lets the LG S40T play music wirelessly from a phone or other compatible device without needing the TV on. That makes it useful as a simple speaker for casual listening, not just as an upgrade for television sound.
Q: How much power does the LG S40T soundbar have?
A: LG S40T has 300W total output across its two channels and dedicated subwoofer. That is suited to small to medium living rooms, where it can deliver a fuller, louder result than most built-in TV speakers without needing a larger surround setup.
Q: What does the WOW Interface actually do on this model?
A: WOW Interface lets compatible LG TVs show and adjust the soundbar's settings through the TV interface. It is a convenience feature rather than a sound upgrade, so the soundbar still works with other TVs, just without that integrated control layer.
