Lenovo Ideacentre
Unpacking and setup of the Ideacentre, was fairly straightforward, until the dreaded Microsoft popup's and reminders started showing their ugly head. It was a reminder, why I hate anything Microsoft. The Lenovo was as slow as an old IBM XT or AT, with 4mb of RAM. This coupled with Wayland and installed bloatware, obviously intended for the "Left" Woke" brigade, was not an experience, I wished to go through or deal with. Delete time..!!! The option was to delete Microsoft altogether, format the hard-drive and install something that actually works. So my Lenovo Ideacentre was bought back to life with a fresh version of Ubuntu 24.10 and at login switched to XII instead of the memory hogging Wayland. Delete all the clutter, like extra splash screens (not needed Lenovo, take note) and tweak the Ideacentre, you now have a worthy Desktop. Perhaps Lenovo, should explore the option of dual-boot systems. This would give the user, another option to choose from. Another great idea, is leave out the pointless bloatware. I would buy another Ideacentre, if I needed it, but Microsoft would be the first thing to go, it's an outdated OS, that has been hacked at more times, than a pie by a crow. Lenovo needs to get with the times. The Ideacentre is a great little desktop and could be better, if Lenovo had a better Marketing and R&D dept..

Lenovo Idea Centre
Setup and initial use was fairly easy, until the dreaded Microsoft Windows Annoyance system kicked in, before I had even used it. It reminded me of why I hate anything Microsoft. Nothing but reminders and popups, "Windows needs to do this", "Windows needs you to setup an account" "Would you like Windows to remember this", etc etc. The solution was simple, delete Windows and install a stable OS called Ubuntu 24.10, after formatting the drive. You lose the warranty, so what.!! Once installed, the Lenovo actually functioned faster, confirmed by bench speed testing. A further disabling of the pathetic Wayland and choosing X11 instead, settled the graphics issues down and made for faster application launching, including Firefox-Trunk 135.0a. All in all, a rather happy purchaser. Yes I would buy another Lenovo, but I would do the same again and delete Microsoft Windows. Would I recommend this to anyone, yes. But would advise them to install another OS. I give the Lenovo 10/10. ....I give Microsoft 0/10. (As bad as Google). Lift your game Lenovo, start giving customers the choice and flavour of different Operating Systems, you might see your bottom line improving. Great little Computer, just let down by Microsoft. Even a dual boot option would be great.
