Ink is ink but this printer has been around for a while so I am thrilled that Good Guys stock this ink. Buying the XL is economical and means less replacements. HP makes life easy with simple swap in and out cartridges.

Great ink tank however the ink doesn't seem to go very far. However we only buy genuine HP cartridges now due to other brands saying they work in our printer and they don't.

Printer compatibility assessment
8/10 - Strong match for users with compatible HP 564-series Photosmart printers, but not suitable outside that printer family.

Ease of replacement rating
9/10 - Straightforward cartridge swap that simplifies routine maintenance.
Business vs home suitability
Best for home and small office use with regular black document printing; suitable for light business use where printer compatibility is confirmed.
Key benefits
- High-Yield Capacity: Prints up to 550 pages, helping reduce replacement frequency for regular black ink printing.
- Black Ink Only: Well suited to users who mainly print text documents and everyday paperwork.
- Genuine HP Cartridge: Designed for compatible HP Photosmart printers for dependable fit and operation.
- Simple Installation: Easy to replace, making routine printer maintenance more straightforward.
- Frequent Printing Support: The XL format is better suited to regular printing than standard-yield alternatives.
- Compatible Printer Range: Fits selected HP Photosmart D5400 and D7500 series printers plus several HP Photosmart All-in-One models.
Q: Does the HP 564XL Black cartridge fit any HP printer?
A: No. The HP 564XL Black cartridge only fits printers designed for the HP 564 ink series, not every HP model. If your current cartridge number is 564 or 564XL black, this high-yield CN684WA cartridge is the correct series match.
Q: Is HP 564XL Black the same as HP 64 ink?
A: No. HP 564XL and HP 64 are different cartridge families and they are not interchangeable. A printer built for HP 64 ink will not accept HP 564XL, even though the numbers look similar when buying replacement cartridges.
Q: Can the HP 564XL Black replace a standard HP 564 Black cartridge?
A: Yes. In printers that use HP 564 black ink, the 564XL high-yield version is usually a direct fit in place of the standard cartridge. The main difference is capacity, with XL designed to print more pages before replacement.
Q: What does high-yield mean on the HP 564XL Black cartridge?
A: High-yield means this cartridge holds more black ink than the standard HP 564 Black version. In typical ISO testing, HP 564XL Black is rated for about 550 pages, compared with roughly 250 pages for the standard cartridge.
Q: Is the HP 564XL Black cartridge a good choice if most printing is text documents?
A: Yes. The black cartridge is the one most commonly used for everyday text printing, so the XL version suits frequent document use better than the standard size. It can reduce replacement frequency if black ink runs out faster than colour cartridges.
