Excellent carpet washer/cleaner
This machine is easy to use. Straightforward instruction. Lightweight. Works how it says . Have a puppy so it gets lots of use. Has been used in all areas of house that are carpeted. It is excellent value for price. Would have given 5 stars but would not let me press the 5th.

Easy to operate
This new product is very easy to use. It just has to push forward for cleaning and backward for sucking the dirty water. Furthermore, it can go underneath the furniture and no need to move away.

Absolutely an amazing machine
I love that the cleaning brush spins so it really cleans the carpet. Best carpet cleaner I’ve ever used and can’t recommend it enough. I just wish it came with a small brush to clean the front part of the machine where it sucks everything up. I live in a farm house with original carpet and the amount of fluff and hair it was pulling up in clumps was amazing.

Great product and smart.
I have been very impressed with the Hoover SmartWash Essentials Carpet Washer. It does an excellent job of deep-cleaning carpets and removing built-up dirt. After using it, the carpets looked noticeably fresher, brighter and almost new again. It is also straightforward to use, and the automatic washing and drying action makes the cleaning process much easier than expected. The only downside is that the machine is quite noisy while operating. However, this is understandable for a carpet washer with strong suction and cleaning power, and it did not bother me too much. I would rather have a slightly noisy machine that cleans properly than a quieter one that does not deliver good results. Overall, it is a very effective carpet cleaner and offers good value for money. I am happy with the results and would recommend it to anyone wanting to refresh tired or heavily used carpets.

Carpet Cleaner exceeded expectation
I can highly recommend the Hoover SmartWash Essentials Carpet Washer. The cleaning performance is very impressive and the drying time is very fast thanks to the drying feature. Our carpets looked refreshed and were left smelling clean. Overall, the Hoover SmartWash Essentials delivers powerful cleaning with minimal effort. It’s user-friendly, effective, and a great investment for keeping carpets looking like new without the cost of professional cleaning.

Things to consider
It offers strong everyday carpet and upholstery cleaning, but it may not match premium or specialist machines built for larger commercial areas, very heavy recurring pet staining or advanced tool sets.
Pet stain removal score
7/10 - strong suction and upholstery capability make it useful for everyday pet mess, though it is not positioned as a specialist pet-stain machine.
Large area suitability
8/10 - well suited to medium to larger rooms thanks to the 9 m cord and 3.8 L clean tank, though very large whole-home jobs may still require refills.
Ease of use
8/10 - automatic cleaning technology, separate tanks and a low-profile nozzle support straightforward household cleaning.
Drying time rating
7/10 - Dry Only mode and HeatForce are designed to help carpets dry faster after cleaning.
Key benefits
- 1200W Motor: Delivers strong suction to help lift dirt, fluff and hair from deep within carpet fibres.
- Automatic Cleaning Technology: Simplifies operation so routine carpet washing feels more straightforward for everyday household use.
- 2.4 m Hose: Gives useful reach for stairs, upholstery and car interiors where a floor head alone is less practical.
- Upholstery Tool: Helps tackle spills and stains on lounges, chairs and other fabric surfaces beyond carpeted floors.
- Low-Profile Nozzle: Reaches shallow spaces under beds and sofas more easily than bulkier cleaner heads.
- 9 m Cord: Provides extra flexibility for cleaning larger rooms with fewer power-point changes.
- Separate Water Tanks: A 3.8 L clean tank and 2.1 L dirty tank keep fresh and used water apart for more effective washing.
- Dry Only Mode with HeatForce: Helps shorten drying time after washing so carpets can be ready to use sooner.
Q: Can this carpet washer clean stairs, lounges and car seats?
A: Yes. The Hoover SmartWash Essentials Carpet Washer includes a 2.4 metre hose and upholstery tool for stairs, lounges and car interiors. It is better suited to fabric surfaces than large open-floor cleaning across multiple rooms at once.
Q: Will it leave carpets very wet after a cleaning pass?
A: No, not usually. Hoover SmartWash Essentials Carpet Washer has a Dry Only mode with HeatForce to help pull out more moisture after washing. Carpet will still need some drying time, especially after heavier cleaning or repeat passes.
Q: Is this model suitable for very large carpeted areas?
A: It can handle larger rooms, but it is not the best fit for whole-home deep cleans in one go. The 9 metre cord gives good reach, while the separate water tanks mean more stopping to refill and empty on bigger jobs.
Q: Can the Hoover SmartWash Essentials clean hard floors too?
A: No. Hoover SmartWash Essentials Carpet Washer is set up for carpets, rugs and upholstery rather than sealed hard floors. If most of the home is hard flooring, a dedicated hard floor cleaner will be the better match.
Q: How often do the water tanks need emptying and refilling?
A: Hoover SmartWash Essentials Carpet Washer uses a 3.8 litre clean tank and a 2.1 litre dirty tank. That suits regular room-by-room cleaning, but larger areas will mean more refill and emptying stops than a bigger carpet washer.
Q: Is the Hoover SmartWash Essentials noisy when operating?
A: It is not a quiet-cleaning model. The strong suction that helps lift dirty water also makes operation more noticeable, so it may sound loud in smaller rooms, even though that trade-off is common with carpet washers focused on extraction.
Q: Can it replace hiring a professional carpet cleaner?
A: For routine refreshes and spills, yes. Hoover SmartWash Essentials Carpet Washer is designed for everyday home cleaning rather than heavy-duty commercial work, so badly neglected carpet may still need a professional service.
