Best carpet cleaner on the market
The hoover power scrub is the best carpet cleaner we have ever used. We have had other brands in the past but this one is easier to use, has a bigger tank, dries the carpets effectively and is excellent on the upholstery

Product is fine but delivery is a joke
I would not recommend getting anything delivered from the Good Guys- the third party provider they use is beyond a joke. They won't deliver it to your house or any other listed depot and therefore force you to drive to the airport to get it so just be aware. Good Guys doesn't want to hear about it either, they will definitely give you the run around if you want to complain.

Happy customer
This carpet cleaner has not disappointed! We decided to buy this after hiring for many years and I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it cleans the carpet. We have two indoor dogs and it did a great job refreshing the carpet and properly cleaning it. The brushes help to get into the carpet pile and it's very easy and convenient to use for one off spills. It also sucks a lot of the moisture out which meant the carpet dried out in under 2 hours

Excellent machine
I'm really impressed with this carpet washer. We have multiple pets and the carpets had been taking a beating. This washer does an excellent job at bringing the carpets back to life. It has plenty of capacity and a long enough cord to move around freely. I'm really glad I bought it as we can use it on spills as they happen, rather than wait and hire something from the local supermarket. Definitely worth the money.

Very good
Have used to clean 3 bedrooms and find it very easy to use. Cleans well and has a large tank allowing for a deeper clean. Comes with a tool to clean the bristles. Highly recommended particularly if on sale

Great,
A simple easy to use system. Great suction and pulls out more water than any other system I've used at this price point.

Great floor shampooer
I have bought so many carpet shampooers over the years, this one has to be the best one so far. The brushes really bring up the pile, the water and solution tanks are large so less filling and emptying is required. The carpet is left a lot dryer than I expected and from the dirty water does a thorough clean.

At a glance
The Hoover PowerScrub XL Carpet Washer is a practical mid-range cleaner for homes with larger carpeted areas, family rooms and stairs. Its big 3.8 L clean tank, 3.0 L dirty tank and 7 m cord help cover more area with fewer interruptions, while the hose and tools add flexibility. A fair limitation is that it is designed for carpets rather than hard-floor or specialist deep-restoration cleaning.
What it’s great for
- Whole-room carpet cleaning
- Large carpeted areas
- Family room refreshes
- Hallways and walkways
- Stair cleaning
- Spot cleaning upholstery
Where it works best
- Family homes
- Large living rooms
- Carpeted hallways
- Bedrooms
- Stairs
- Multi-room carpeted spaces
Who it’s for
- Families
- Pet owners
- Homeowners with mostly carpeted floors
- Renters needing regular carpet maintenance
- Users wanting room-to-room coverage
Things to consider
It offers strong everyday carpet washing capacity and coverage, but it is not a specialist machine for hard floors, ultra-fast drying, or commercial-grade restoration jobs.
Pet stain removal score
8/10 - supplied trial pet cleaning solution and scrubbing brushes make it well suited to everyday pet messes on carpet.
Large area suitability
9/10 - large 3.8 L clean tank, 3.0 L dirty tank and 7 m cord support extended cleaning across bigger carpeted spaces.
Ease of use
Easy to use for routine carpet washing, with good tank capacity and useful accessories for stairs and spot cleaning.
Drying time rating
6/10 - designed for thorough washing and recovery, but no specific quick-dry feature or drying-time claim is provided.
Key benefits
- 3.8 L clean water tank: lets you clean larger carpeted areas before needing to refill.
- 3.0 L dirty water tank: holds more recovered water so you can stop less often to empty.
- Five SpinScrub brushes: counter-rotating brushes help loosen and lift embedded dirt across carpet fibres.
- TruMAX recovery tank technology: helps reduce interruptions by allowing more cleaning between emptying stops.
- 7 m power cord: provides longer reach so you can move room to room with less unplugging.
- 2.4 m hose: gives added reach for stairs, edges and targeted cleaning tasks.
- Included upholstery tool: helps clean fabric surfaces and smaller soft-furnishing areas more precisely.
- Accessory bundle with trial solution and cleaning tools: gives you what you need to start spot cleaning and detail work straight away.
Q: Is the PowerScrub XL suitable for hard floors as well?
A: No. Hoover PowerScrub XL Carpet Washer is designed for carpets, with brushing and water recovery aimed at carpet fibres rather than hard flooring. If most of your home is tile, timber or vinyl, this is not the right all-surface cleaner for that job.
Q: Can it clean carpeted stairs and furniture, or just rooms?
A: Yes. It includes an upholstery tool and a 2.4 metre hose, so it can handle carpeted stairs and small fabric cleaning jobs without moving the whole machine onto each step. It is better suited to targeted upholstery work than cleaning an entire lounge suite.
Q: Which cleaning solution should I use in this Hoover washer?
A: Use a carpet cleaning solution made for machine carpet washers. A trial bottle of Paws & Claws solution is included, and other liquids such as vinegar are not the right choice for this machine because they can affect cleaning performance and leave residue.
Q: Does this model have a fast-dry or heated drying mode?
A: No dedicated fast-dry or heated drying mode is listed for this model. Hoover PowerScrub XL Carpet Washer is built for regular deep cleaning, so drying time will depend on how much moisture is left in the carpet and the airflow in the room afterwards.
Q: Will the tanks be big enough for larger carpeted rooms?
A: Yes. Hoover PowerScrub XL Carpet Washer has a 3.8L clean tank and a 3.0L dirty tank, so it is set up for longer cleaning runs across bigger rooms and walkways. On a full house clean, you will still need refill and emptying stops along the way.
Q: How much reach do I get from the cord and hose?
A: Hoover PowerScrub XL Carpet Washer has a 7 metre cord for room-to-room cleaning and a 2.4 metre hose for stairs, edges and spot jobs. That gives longer reach between power points, but the hose is still intended for targeted cleaning rather than full rooms.
