So easy to use!
We bought this machine, hoping that it would live up to expectation and it had done more than that! Brilliant spin cycle, with clean clothes emerging seemingly half dry already. Love the Auto Dispenser as well as having a Manual option.

Auto dose and the door lighting are a game changer!
Loving the auto dose feature on this machine, it has two of them where one can be used for whites liquid and the other backs or just have them both filled the same and will automatically get the liquid from both meaning an even longer time before you meed to top up wash liquid. We are finding with having the auto dose that we are saving on not going through as much washing liquid Additionally having a light trigger on in the door when it opens its a nice touch, making it very easy to see in the drum

Best washing machine ever
Really happy with the Fisher & Paykel 10kg Series 5 washing machine. I’ve only had it for a short while, but so far it’s been great. I really like the Wi-Fi/app feature too. It’s handy being able to check the wash from my phone and get a notification when the cycle has finished, especially when I’m busy around the house

Excellent dryer
Purchased the dryer last month. Working out pretty good. Saves alot of time, cost and effort compared to dual mode washing machines. Drying cycle is pretty fast and alot of customise modes as well.

Hopefully this one lasts me 15 years!
Bought this to replace my previous Fisher Paykel that was 15 years old. Liking it so far, it is annoying that you need to confirm and then start the cycle, so now another step to get started, but I throughly enjoy the auto dispenser function for fabric detergent and softer, as well as the app connection to let me know my washing is done. Let’s see how long this one lasts!

Difficult to use
The machine is very difficult to operate You need to get the right settings otherwise it doesn’t use any fabric condition

Great machine
Love the app. Washing machine is very quiet. And having the app linked to the washing machine helps out because most of the time i dont hear it finish. The notification makes life easier.

At a glance
This 10kg front load washer suits families and busy households needing flexible programs for bedding, towels and mixed fabrics. Its key strengths are FlexiDose automatic detergent dosing, steam refresh and app connectivity for easier day-to-day use. A fair limitation is that it focuses on practical core features rather than the premium wash customisation and specialist cycles found higher up the range.
What it’s great for
- Family Laundry
- Bedding and Towel Loads
- Mixed Fabric Washing
- Everyday Garment Care
- Light Garment Refreshing
Where it works best
- Family Home
- Busy Household Laundry
- Apartment Laundry
- Ensuite Laundry
Who it’s for
- Families
- Busy Households
- Couples with High Wash Volumes
- Homeowners Upgrading from Smaller Washers
Things to consider
It covers the essentials well, but premium front loaders may offer quieter operation, more advanced stain-specific programs, or broader smart automation features.
Fabric care suitability score
8/10 - Good range of fabric-specific programs plus steam refresh supports everyday care for mixed household wardrobes.
Water efficiency rating
4.5 star WELS, 86L per wash cycle
Family laundry fit
Excellent for medium to large families with frequent bedding, towel and mixed-clothing loads
Noise level vs category average
6.5/10 - No standout quiet-operation claim is provided, so it is best treated as typical rather than notably quiet for the category.
Allergy suitability
6.5/10 - Steam refresh may help freshen garments, but there is no specific allergy or hygiene-focused certification or dedicated allergy cycle stated.
Key benefits
- 10kg Capacity: Handles large family loads, including queen-size linen, towels and bedding with fewer wash cycles.
- FlexiDose Automatic Dosing: Dispenses detergent automatically for each wash, reducing guesswork and everyday measuring.
- Steam Refresh: Helps reduce odours and creases on lightly worn clothes so they are easier to wear again without a full wash.
- SmartHQ App Compatibility: Lets you check cycle progress and access product guides from a compatible phone.
- Auto Load Sensing: Adjusts the wash to the load size for more practical day-to-day washing convenience.
- 5 Star Energy Rating: Offers strong energy performance with estimated annual energy consumption of 228kWh.
- 4.5 Star WELS Water Rating: Uses 86L per wash cycle, giving solid water performance for a 10kg family washer.
- Multiple Fabric Programs: Includes settings for cotton, wool, delicates, sports gear and towels to better match different laundry types.
Q: Can SmartHQ start a wash remotely on this model
A: No. SmartHQ support here is for checking cycle progress and accessing guides from a compatible phone. The listed features do not include remote cycle start, so it is better treated as monitoring and help, not full remote control.
Q: Is steam refresh enough instead of a normal wash
A: No. Steam refresh is for lightly worn items that need odour and crease reduction without a full wash. It is not the right choice for heavily soiled clothes, towels or loads that need a complete detergent wash and rinse.
Q: Will it handle queen sheets and family towel loads
A: Yes. The 10kg drum is sized for large household loads and is described as suitable for queen-size linen, so sheets and towels are well within its everyday use. Very bulky items still need room to move, so avoid packing the drum too tightly.
Q: Does automatic dosing mean less detergent guesswork day to day
A: Yes. FlexiDose automatically dispenses detergent for each wash, so there is less measuring for routine loads. It suits buyers who want a simpler laundry routine, but cycle and fabric selection still matter for getting the best result.
Q: What does the two-step start system actually do
A: It adds a confirmation step before the wash begins. That can feel less instant than a single Start button, but it helps prevent accidental operation and works alongside the child lock as part of the washer’s safety setup.
Q: Will running costs be reasonable for a 10kg washer
A: Fisher & Paykel WH1060P5 has a 5 star energy rating. A higher energy rating generally means lower electricity use than other 10kg front load washers with a lower rating, though actual cost still depends on cycle choice and how often it runs.
